Perfect full band gelling in a dramatic end jam portion, leading effortlessly into China > Rider

Greatest Story Ever Told

Giants Stadium

Why the dead chose to neuter the peak jam inherent in early incarnations of this song is one of the most perplexing mysteries ever. This is crisp tho

Deer Creek Music Center

This hit me perfectly. Well paced, lyrically nailed the poignancy, peak was driven. Nice late-era Peter

Stella Blue

Giants Stadium

I was surprised to look back and see how relatively short this version was, because it had wonderful pace and the punch was ferocious.

Giants Stadium

Sugaree
Dec. 28, 1979
Oakland Auditorium

Capitol Theater

Jerry initiates his leads with absolutely spine tingling, delicate flutters, then builds the peak to cathartic explosion. Gorgeous
Deal

Hofheinz Pavilion

Smoking early version of Deal. Not the face shredding '89-'90 variety, but a hot little potato all the same
He's Gone
Nov. 18, 1972
Hofheinz Pavilion

My favorite of the early 70s. Long, airy, flowing, and beautiful. A true highlight of the Houston '72 release. Digs deep with soul

“But this version goes to 11” - shit cranks and gets to the peak fast...
