Viola Lee Blues
Nov. 10, 1967
Shrine Auditorium
Spun again for the first time in a long time. Still top-game Viola. It's not just the frantic energy channeled into a thrilling peak - for me on this listen, it's Lesh about half way through accelerating the beat 2x as fast and the WHOLE band stepping up to follow. This is crazy good
Big River
Aug. 13, 1975
Great American Music Hall
This one cooks and Jerry takes near surfer-style licks during the piano solo. Band was rested and ready to burn it down this night!
Eyes Of The World
Aug. 13, 1975
Great American Music Hall
Finally pulled the trigger on this beauty on vinyl and My. God. It's been a while since I heard this version and floored just like the first time. The band is so tight, Jerry so nimble, and Chill Lesh so thick on the bassline. Crisp, melodic, and sublime.
Blow Away
Aug. 27, 1972
Old Renaissance Faire Grounds
I’m shocked no one commented on the disgusting Keith/Brent/Pig three-way dueling pianos solos into vocal raps for each. Not quite Cornell quality version, but HEADY all the same.
Scarlet Begonias
March 16, 1990
Capital Centre
Pulsing jam with great full band interplay that for me, is far superior to the oft lauded version just a few days later in tour. Everyone dialed in to create unified voice
