Estimated Prophet

Uptown Theater

This Estimated is good, but the Franklin's that follows is the take home. Around the 7 min mark, DJ Jazzy Brent has some silky licks before the solo gets handed over to Jerry. Worth listening for that contribution.

This is a true highlight of the new DP release. Band clicks during this Frank and the following jam has wonderful interplay between Jerry and Brent.
Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
Dec. 3, 1979
Uptown Theatre

I have a bit of a different take on this. I was super excited for the new DP release, as I personally love '79, especially Nov-Dec. I found this version really sluggish and lacking spark. The Scarlett was approached with near reluctance and Bobby's slide offers little to the supportive structure. The Fire picks up, but has devastating audio cuts that take you out of the momentum the band was gaining. I'll obviously spin again, many times, but was relatively underwhelmed following Lemieux talking this up so hard in the seaside chat.

Jerry and Brent get lock step early in this magnificent version. Peppy rendition for the first time in the mothership
