Playin' In The Band
Nov. 24, 1972
Dallas Memorial Auditorium

Wow, seemingly a very overlooked gem. Tension and release, weaving effortlessly from mellow jam segments to soaring peaks, without screechy breakdown

Moseying version. Jerry lays down buttery licks and Keith rides some nice fills. Zippidy doo dah tuning jam to follow

Saint of Circumstance

Great Saint, though the goods are in the MLB > Dear Prudence jam that follows. I can only imagine the level of blue balls in the house for that tease

I always liked this version. The boys gel together nicely for a peaky crescendo

Playin' In The Band
May 26, 1993
Cal Expo

This one gets a bit noisy and grating for my tastes, but good to see that the boys could still get weird in the later years.
Dark Star
June 24, 1970
Capitol Theatre

Man, this one is beyond words. Perfect weaving of Dark Star throughout the set. The tighten up jam is nothing short of miraculous. Pity there is no SBD, but the AUD copies are decent enough. This one sparkles, from end to end
Eyes Of The World
March 29, 1990
Nassau Coliseum

This may be deemed 'blasphemy,' but to my humble ears, the Branford sits ins always bordered dangerously on dad rock/Kenny G dentist office waiting room music. Still, the core of the band is completely on point for this - Jerry's solos shine brightly, like a spotlight shown on a diamond. Phil's contributions on the low end are tasty brilliance. Branford weaves in perfectly with the tapestry of music, though the tone is a little vanilla to my ears. The jam is at its best when Jerry is going off and Branford is playing the simple back and forth background chord changes. All and all, this is brilliant, no doubt. A top shelf version, regardless of guest appearance luster. It is nice to have a point of comparison to see what the boys sound like with a variable in play. 50 minutes of incredible music with Eyes > Estimated > Dark Star. Best ever? Likely not, but incredible, no doubt
Estimated Prophet

Nassau Coliseum

I hear you cgarces, but Branford does torch the early part of the jam before Jerry takes over. Very great version
