I love spinning this wheel for the jam that follows it. It's a lilting groove that takes on an almost dark & mysterious character in places, driven largely by Jerry's innovative ideas. This one seems to reveal something new with each listen...

I think the Good Lovin' itself is just ok, but the jam that follows is a great example of the explorative, jazz-tinged ensemble playing that typifies that better moments of '76.

From one of the epic second sets of '76. This Eyes is worthy for the unique coda as others have mentioned. But this whole sequence beginning and ending with Playin' is a mighty, meaty sandwich. Although it's a Dick's pick, I highly recommend the AUD on the archive for this one, as the energy of this show does not translate on the near sterile SBD release.

^Indeed. The vocal harmonies of June & July of '76 were a thing of beauty, and Donna's vocal contributions on the ballads in particular are woefully underrated I feel.

^ Wow, I envy you, Pez! I'm sure it was an extraordinary, face-melting experience. This Dark Star is the best of the lot from the tour - Rotterdam's got nothing on this night imho. I'm very careful about where and when I listen to DS->Sugar Mag->Caution sequence b/c it can be all too much. Heady stuff.
