The previous night's version was tasty, but this one is delicious. The nomination for this one is long overdue. The whole show is quintessential '76

Opens the first electric set from the last (and best) show from the 8 night run at NYC's Radio City Music Hall. Its nomination is long overdue!

Alert! This one not a throw-away. The best one of '74, no foolin'. Played with a perfect balance of gusto, gumption & grit.

Bird Song
Oct. 2, 1972
Springfield Civic Center

A great Bird that somehow flew on without me. Glad she finally took me under her wing! This one belongs amongst the canon of other extraordinary ones from the period: 8/27, 9/15, 9/27, 11/17, 11/19 (to name a few).
Black Throated Wind

^ Well said Ernie. Somehow this show slipped under my radar for all these years. This period in the bands repertoire is an embarrassment of riches indeed, and this show simply stands as a testament to that.
King Solomon's Marbles
July 16, 1976
Orpheum Theatre

Labeling this 'King Solomon's Marbles' is a misnomer, but there's a likeness there, and I can see (hear) how some folks might have been mistaken. This vamp is a funk/jazz workout this is unique and infectious. There's a very good Matrix source available, and around the 5:25 mark one can hear the sheer joy exuding from the crowd. Another great '76 moment.
The Other One
July 17, 1976
Orpheum Theatre

A worthy take on this tune from one of the all around best second sets from '76! For reasons unknown, Donna was absent from the entire second set. While many heads might not mind this fact, it's worth noting that this was the best era of Donna's vocal delivery with the band.
Sugaree
July 17, 1976
Orpheum Theatre

Indeed, good things come to those that wait. This one works its way up to a satisfying climax. To my ears, this is the first Sugaree that really signals the greatness that was to fully flower in this song the following year...
