Monkey and the Engineer
Dec. 31, 1970
Winterland Arena

Jerry's sweet voice is extra sweet & clear during the chorus for this version than the ones from October, 1980.

Mason's Children

Honolulu Civic Auditorium

Monster Mason's. Can't believe this one isn't here yeat. Cleanest, most coherent version. Jerry's guitar tone is pure gold.

Mind Left Body Jam

Kiel Auditorium

Sandwiched between a dreamy Dark Star. Not the definitive version perhaps, but it belongs in the discussion.

Can believe this one isn't already here! A beautiful version from one of the top five shows ever played.

Near flawless version from a near flawless tour. The whole band is locked in on the home stretch here, and keith is hammerin' away on those ivories..

Mind Left Body Jam
June 28, 1974
Boston Garden

Yup, this version stands as the yardstick by which all other versions are measured. No worthy GD library exists without this quintessential version. The WRS->MLBJ->US Blues is one for the ages. This 52+ minutes of pure bliss is some of the finest music ever created, bar-none!
Candyman
Feb. 24, 1974
Winterland Arena

Never been a big Candyman fan, but this version made me turn my ear to the music. Jerry's face melting solo on this version is a force to be reckoned with. Seriously, Jerry's solo here is one prime example of his greatness.
Greatest Story Ever Told
May 7, 1972
Bickershaw Festival

8/27/72 gets the lion's share of the attention--and I can see why--but this lesser known version gives it a damn good run for the money. Fasten your seat belts, and listen to this one folks!
Eyes Of The World
Aug. 13, 1975
Great American Music Hall

I still give the edge to 8/6/74 as a whole, but I tip my hat to this version. Top ten for sure. And indeed, this whole show is stellar.
Eyes Of The World
June 18, 1974
Freedom Hall

Never been my absolute favorite, but deserves to be in the top ten best for sure. The cleanest version I've heard. Keith owns this one on the outtro jam.
