Beat it on Down The Line
May 3, 1972
Olympia Theater
Tight, inspired, rockin'. Best of the Euro '72 run. Give it some love, folks!

One knows from Jerry's opening vocals "cost a lot to win" sung with extra twang, that it's gonna be rockin' with that good county, funky vibe.

The Music Never Stopped
Aug. 13, 1975
Great American Music Hall
Great One indeed. Love this crisp, clean, smooth version. The end segment is not as expanded upon as it would get in '77-78, but it's the best vocal version. Its got soul I tell ya.
Dark Star
Oct. 18, 1974
Winterland Arena
This not the greatest Dark Star of them all I'd say, but the best of 1974, when sadly only six were played. 9/10/74 would be the other contender. Worth a listen.

Indeed. This DS is more about the whole sequence than the actual DS(s) themselves. This show as a whole is bigger than the sum of its parts. Along with 5/2/70 & 2/13-14/70, this has to be the best show of the year. A must have for any heads collection!

Certainly not the best Dark Star as a whole, but the "beautiful jam" segment is certainly well named. I read somewhere that Phil Lesh, after hearing it for the first time many years later, was brought to tears by it. Gotta respect that.

Fillmore East
I'll give the edge to 2/13/70, but this one is a close second to the best DS of 1970!
