Overlooked GEM! Swift yet deeply felt. Jerry CRUSHES it.

^^^ I don't know why people bother making comments like this. It's directly against the whole spirit of this site. If you like other Dews, sockeye, then upvote and comment on them.

^^^ I've done a lot of speed-correcting of Dead shows in my time. I never noticed DiP 33 being out of tune, so I did a few tests. I gotta look into it more, but it seems to me that, if anything, DiP 33 runs a bit fast, not slow. Most of the tunes I tested (Mama Tried, Ramble On, Stella) were all about .03 Hz above the "correct" pitch of the tunes. And to my ears (when I play along with the music), the uncorrected tracks sound more in tune to me than the corrected tracks do. I'm not sure what led you to believe what DiP 33 runs slow. Again, it seems to me to be pretty much right, and if it's off, then it's fast, not slow.

^^^ I've started to realize, only in the last year or two, just how stand-out incredible 4/78 is. At this point I think of it like I do 5/77 or 11/73.

Following up on an earlier point: it's absolutely true that RT 1.1 (as well as the two RT "Complete shows" from 11/79) are WAY out-of-tune. You've never heard the SBD of this killer version properly unless you have a speed-corrected copy. Particularly good is a copy that is speed-correcting while also having decoded the "peak-extension" information contained in the HDCD. (The result is a file that's 24/44.1.)

^^^ I don't think it proves that. This is, I believe, just an example of an ongoing (and, to my mind, lame) joke throughout this site. I believe there's also an entry for a Veneta "Samba In the Rain" or something equally stupid.
