Outstanding late-late-era Dead.

NFA as a Jerry tune? Yup, here it is! "But you drive me back -- huh!" Hell yes!

Wharf Rat

Frost Amphitheatre

Overlooked GEM! Swift yet deeply felt. Jerry CRUSHES it.

Ramble On Rose
Oct. 9, 1989
Hampton Coliseum

This one's always been the quintessential late-era Ramble On for me. "Goodbye Mama and Papa!" -- watch out!
Terrapin Station
Dec. 31, 1987
Oakland Coliseum Arena

Rightly or wrongly, this will always be THE classic version of Terrapin for me. No doubt there are versions that beat it in this-or-that respect, but all told, I think this is the one, all the way down to the perfect ending into Drums.
Help On The Way > Slipknot > Franklin's Tower
Oct. 9, 1976
Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Stadium

Back in the day, I had a nice cassette copy of Set 2. I listened to it at least as much as I listened to Cornell '77 or Veneta '72. I recently revisited it after many years (years in which I'd listened to Cornell and Veneta many times), and for whatever it's worth, this Help > Slip > Frank (+ Drums > Samson) will always be THE classic version for me. "Play all night! Play all night!" -- yelled out during "Drums." The Slipknot is slinking, menacing, yet somehow tranquil all at the same time. Set 2 is special all-around, but it's the Help > Slip > ... > Franklin's that anchors it all. Highly recommended.
Brokedown Palace
June 25, 1995
RFK Stadium

Obviously this is not going to be the "best" version of Brokedown Palace, coming as it does in June of '95. But give it a shot, because beautiful and heart-breaking. I remember reading about Hornsby saying how soulfully Jerry was singing during the last concert Hornsby played with them. Well, this is that night, and he's talking about Brokedown Palace (as well as Wharf Rat).
Sugaree
Sept. 18, 1987
Madison Square Garden

This version is WAY underrated here. It's tight, the singing is great, and each solo has its own beginning-middle-end. A personal favorite.
