El Paso
Sept. 9, 1972
Hollywood Palladium

A sweet and mellow version with some lovely Jerry fills throughout. Marty Robbins would be proud.

Mexicali Blues
Sept. 9, 1972
Hollywood Palladium

Tight, high-energy, and a blast of a rollicking-good-time cowboy tune. Just exactly what Mexicali Blues should be.

Touch of Grey
Sept. 20, 1982
Madison Square Garden

Only the third performance. The groovy rhythm of the early versions lets Brent's piano REALLY flourish here. Tighter than most other '82 versions.

Paramount Theatre

Played a little slower than usual, but not missing an ounce of passion. Keith and Donna sound great during the outro.

Johnny B. Goode

Strummin' to the rhythm that the DRUMMERS made. They're pounding their kits while the rest of the band rages behind them. Keith sounds great too.

So Many Roads
Oct. 1, 1994
Boston Garden

Makes me cry like a baby every time I hear it. Chills down my spine - a flawless performance by Jerry, and as emotional and heartfelt as a Dead performance ever got. The cherry on top of the last truly incredible show.
Feel Like A Stranger
Oct. 12, 1984
Augusta Civic Center

Best-ever, in my book. This one's got all the right kinds of drama and tension that the track should have. A great opener to a great show.
Cumberland Blues
Oct. 21, 1983
Worcester Centrum

Always liked Brent's keys on this version - he really carries it, and this track's one of the highlights of this show because of his playing.
New Minglewood Blues
Jan. 22, 1978
McArthur Court, U of Oregon

My number two version! A furious version from one of their all-time great shows, and sets the tone for the whole night.
Dark Star
Oct. 26, 1989
Miami Arena

Beautiful, terrifying, and nothing short of nightmare fuel for those brave enough to give it a listen. I've never heard a scarier Dark Star in my life, but I love it nonetheless.
