This version soars thanks to Keith's dynamic piano work. You'd never know they'd only been playing JS for a month...great one.

Check out the cool China Cat jam leading into GDTRFB! Some pristine versions of NFA>GDTRFB from the Fall '71 tour - this one's no exception.

Closes a fantastic post-drums-space sequence. Just an all-around good one that benefits from the incredible momentum beforehand.

Charged up with energy coming out of the hot Alabama opener. They really go after this one, and makes it stand out. Great stuff!

Loads of fun! Like versions from '79, it's an interesting hybrid version - the energy of 80's versions but minus the second solo. Still kicks, though!

Scarlet Begonias -> Fire On The Mountain
April 20, 1984
Philadelphia Civic Center

This might be the happiest I've ever been listening to a Scarlet > Fire. Fresh off Dave's Picks 35, this makes the entire album worth it. So joyful and stuffed with positive vibes, particularly during Jerry's soloing.

Cow Palace

If I'm not mistaken, I hear a little bit of the intro to "Here Comes Sunshine" here, particularly in the first section of the outro jam. It's very cool and a nice transition into Samson.
It Must Have Been The Roses

Lindley Meadows, Golden Gate Park

I'm not usually a fan of the Dead's '75 shows, but this one is an all-time best and the highlight of this show.

My favorite Brent version - and maybe my favorite ever!
