Touch of Grey
Sept. 20, 1982
Madison Square Garden

Only the third performance. The groovy rhythm of the early versions lets Brent's piano REALLY flourish here. Tighter than most other '82 versions.

Deal

Paramount Theatre

Played a little slower than usual, but not missing an ounce of passion. Keith and Donna sound great during the outro.

Johnny B. Goode

Strummin' to the rhythm that the DRUMMERS made. They're pounding their kits while the rest of the band rages behind them. Keith sounds great too.

One More Saturday Night
June 23, 1990
Autzen Stadium

A good one played on a Saturday night. Kicks into gear in the second half. Brent's organ is stellar, and Jerry's midi textures add flavor to the mix

Not Fade Away
Sept. 21, 1982
Madison Square Garden

Fiery, with loads of Brent organ and a tight jam. Everyone's totally locked into the groove.

All New Minglewood Blues
Sept. 3, 1977
Raceway Park

It didn’t make the list because “All New Minglewood” is the arrangement of the song they used in the 80’s. The version from this show, which is just “New Minglewood,” is already on here.
Scarlet Begonias
July 24, 1987
Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Stadium

^ I know it, man. I’m surprised I had to even submit this one in the first place, I thought for sure it would have already been on here. In my opinion, it’s the best standalone Scarlet post-1977.
Touch of Grey
March 16, 1990
Capital Centre

Easily my favorite. The energy is off the charts. Phil and the drummers are totally locked in, and Jerry sounds great.
Jack Straw
July 9, 1989
Giants Stadium

FANTASTIC version. The vocal entrance following the jam is legendary, but the jam itself is just as hot. The drummers are really getting into it, too.
Morning Dew
May 8, 1977
Barton Hall - Cornell University

Jeez, Fool - If you like 11/2/85's Dew so much, go comment on that one instead of hanging out here. There's nothing wrong with people thinking this one's the best. What does it matter? Let them like what they want to like.
