Promised Land
July 19, 1990
Deer Creek Music Center

Brent is wailing the B3 and the ending crescendo is Allmans-esque with Phil dropping massive bombs. Excellent close to set 1.

"Good evening and a very Happy New Year to you all" after a real nice Bertha>Promised opener

Foolish Heart
April 28, 1991
Sam Boyd Silver Bowl

It took Foolish a few years to really develop. Phil is doing it up in a well developed jam crescendo with a very tasty solo from Jerry.

Nassau Coliseum

A highlight of a very strong first set! Jerry, Phil and Brent playing as a trio of lead instruments all soloing together while Bob and the drummers keep the rhythm just exactly perfect. So much space to breathe in this version, just beautiful!
Comes A Time
June 24, 1985
River Bend Music Center

I like the roughness of Jerry's voice in 1985 and it fits the mood of Comes A Time wonderfully. He's singing well on this version, but the ending solo is so short its almost non-existent. Can't say this version stands out to me.

superb guitar interplay, Garcia, Weir, Lesh all playing strongly on this one!
Promised Land
Sept. 6, 1980
State Fairgrounds

This whole show smokes and the Promised Land first set closer is just on fire. So much momentum built up from the looonnngg first set and the China>Rider that precedes it.

Super speedy (some of that maybe be tape speed)
