Playin' In The Band
Sept. 2, 1985
Zoo Amphitheater

This one gets waaaaay out there with Jerry leading the charge. Don't think of '85 as an epic year, but this one's worth the 14 minutes!

They Love Each Other
Nov. 20, 1973
Denver Coliseum

Fast, bouncy TLEO -- absolutely nailed.

Wharf Rat
May 8, 1984
Silva Hall at the Hult Center

Can't believe this one's not up yet -- Terrapin > Drums > Space > Other One puddles into a beautiful Wharf Rat.

Brokedown Palace
May 8, 1984
Silva Hall at the Hult Center

This is the one devoted to Ken Kesey (in attendance) after the death of his son -- the most heartfelt you'll ever hear.

Picking up right where the previous night left off...

Comes A Time
July 17, 1976
Orpheum Theatre

This long version is haunting as hell, and must-hear. Released as part of Dave's Picks Vol. 18 -- check it out at all costs!
Here Comes Sunshine
Nov. 14, 1973
San Diego International Sports Arena

I agree with grendel on this one -- there's a lot of uncertainty in the transitions to the point where one is completely butchered, and that uncertainty carries over into some of the improvisation too. The fire just isn't there when compared to some of the other versions of HCS from this tour and Winter '74. Pauley from a few days later *crushes* this one, and it's not even really close.
The Other One
Aug. 19, 1989
Greek Theatre, U. Of California

^ agreed. I heard Healy liked to mess with Bobby's vocals to fuck with him, but in this version, it makes it trippy as hell. This is an extraterrestrial beast that -> Wharf Rat. An awesome Brent version -- listen to some of his crazy atonal runs throughout.
Brokedown Palace
July 15, 1984
Greek Theatre - University of California

Bob says "bye bye Sunny" during the first verse -- not sure who Sunny is though...
Bertha
Aug. 6, 1974
Roosevelt Stadium

This is easily my favorite Bertha ever, simply because it's played completely differently from the rest of them. That swinging tempo is so good, and Phil dominates. '74 FTW!
