Deal
April 19, 1978
Veterans Memorial Auditorium

This whole first set is played with energy and passion; Deal gets real hot -- heady Donna and Bobby screams at the end!

Cassell Coliseum - Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University

Jerry does a fantastic Peggy O, slowing everything down, then Bobby and Donna come up with a LLR for the ages; everyone on-point, fantastic!

I'm just going to keep commenting on this -- hopefully more people will come around to it. Unreal . . . Stoney . . . Psychedelic . . . listen now.
Dancin' in the Streets

Auditorium Theatre

Seriously funky -- off the new May 77 official release ; out of a prety special half-step, too.
Not Fade Away

Auditorium Theatre

This one was the highlight of the whole night for me -- really good energy slowly building to some serious intensity -- into Comes A Time. Great pick.
Sing Me Back Home

Strand Lyceum

Very saddened they mixed Donna's last round of vocals out on the new Complete Europe set. My bootleg boards of this are much better than the release . . . I really can't get my head around why they would do that . . . this is one of Donna's best moments with the band. Don't think it's keeping with the spirit of the band and I'm truly disappointed they would chop up my Dead . . . this version is some of the most heartfelt GD of all-time, IMHO . . .

The band takes it really slow and bobby and donna are more than up for the challenge. A great rendition, with beautiful playing from phil, jerry and keith, too!
