Start of a cautionary tale
As I've listened from the first show in 1970, Jer's voice is changing, undeniably. As I rode in the car and heard a show on Sirius from 1985 the other

day, as an indication of what is to come in my chronological journey, I heard this very same voice from Jerry. I noticed it is more tired than all the rest of the years, cracking often. Now in April of 1983, for the last couple of shows I have heard this voice. It seems like it is the beginning of a terrible end, as we know of the health issues he had in late '85. Hard to hear this happening, being helpless and as useless as hindsight.

Just a weeknight in Providence
This show is special. If you didn't care for it you need to go back and listen again. Too bad about the sound trouble but it seemed to calm down after

the 1st few tunes. Love the chorus out of the solo on Loser, also Looks Like Rain, Sugar Mag/Sunshine Daydream, Cumberland Blues. I feel like the band's wheels started to fall off after 1983. This is one of the best shows of the 80's IMO.

Although parts of it are OK, it's pretty sloppy. Garcia is kinda all over the place, playing way faster than he really can.

songs. There is no better Look Like Rain, The China Rider kicks ass. The first set is epic albeit short. The sound is 83 soundboard, so don;t complain. Miller or Hunter Seamons needs to make the matrix to round things out. I have Charlie's first gen cassettes still.

5 reviews? Ridiculous I say-The second set is a KILLER
I rarely write full show reviews anymore- and this is only a half show review- but this Miller transfer is delicious- Phil is all over the tape- loud and

clear, punctuating everything with his very special melodic sense- and jer- well jer is in his best '83 form- his leads are just burning dudes- more than 5 folks should have reviewed this show- give a listen- do not miss it.

Very solid show
Really, what more could you ask for from this show? Plenty of jamming, energy is high, and the setlist is very inventive. Jerry is fully there, and the
...
vocals are solid all around. First set is spectacular with a very funky Touch of Grey (one of the few good ones I've heard), a smoking LLR, and a high-speed China>Rider. The second set is not quite as good as the first but still smokes. The energy is high and the band flys through the second set with good performances of every song (although none that I would call "best of"). Sound = 4 stars (a few minor glitches) 1st Set = 5 stars 2nd Set = 4.5 stars Overall rating = 4.5 stars, but I'll round it up to 5 because I don't often give out 5 stars to shows in the 80s and 90s.

Sweet upgrade over the original source. I highly recommend this show. Garcia was definitely there to play. Loser, Cumberland and Looks Like Rain all

have stellar Garcia solos. Although a bit fast, Eyes of the World is just shredded by Jerry. Also of note is a very hectic, psychotic space that deserves a listen. Throwing Stones is an excellent version and Dew is played well, but quite fast, look to 06-18-1983 for a great Dew in that time era. Check out this show...
