Outstanding Crazy Fingers and early Touch of Grey! This is a great sounding show but I agree with a previous reviewer, it's played back a bit faster than
...
it should be. I've noticed this in other 80's SBD shows. It makes them sound cool though, as if they played really fast, but it would sound just as good at the correct speed and more natural.

This is an essential show. Very underrated considering the playing quality and song rotation switch around. This show has the best post-revival Crazy

Fingers... period. How could you disagree? Over 1 1/2 minute introduction. Brent playing actual piano? Yes yes yes. so good! The playin' before it is also pretty damn great. and Bobby says "playin' in the band" all quick and cheezy before going into the big jam. What a cheeseball! Anyways, this show is incredible, especially b/c of its oddball but fun first set. The Dead always gave extra effort when playing in NYC, let alone the Garden.

LOL, an auspicious occasion for sure. Great show though, from a tour well worth collecting.

The M-80
3 things I remember about about this show... the M80 that went off during He's Gone (which scared the crap out of us)... a cop lighting a joint for a deadhead...
...
and the bus ride back to Hartford after the show; the driver said, "one smell of pot and the bus stops"; to which one of my buddies replied, "and then what are you gonna do". Although the smaller theaters were the best places to see the Dead, the garden was (and I suppose still is) a great place to see a show; always an electric atmosphere to be sure. This show featured a cool PITB to start the show; 3 fairly new '82 tunes. Speed is a hair fast and if you use NT pitch adjust to about -1.5%. Compared to other '82 boards, this one is better than most for that flatly recorded year; it's too bad, because there were some good shows in '82. Overall a 4 for the recording and 4.5 for the show.

nice 82
If you like 82 sbds, you'll probably like this one. Sometimes the mix is a little more ragged than usual for the era, but it's still pretty nice. BTW--If

you're a winamp user, there's a free plug in (NT Pitch) that you can use to pitch correct tunes. Of course, if you're burning these to CDRs, you'll probably be able to easily pitch correct the corresponding wav files.

Beware this source...

he's on helium. Wether this show is that great or not I can't say because it plays so fast it's really distracting.

the show is great, but JG is a little too low in the mix for me. I d/l'd the aud which was much better.
