The best of the pre summer California shows
They really stretched by this third night, the first night was the first time w the then new in ear monitors. Check out Birdsong, Scarlet-Fire and Gloria.

The right channel is a little low in volume as I recall from the original DAT SBD but may have been fixed in remastering. Good times at the Expo. Lord those were the days! To be in my twenties again standing next to speakers in the beer garden with a fresh Sierra Pale. Venturing down front at your leisure. No pushing & room to boogie. Really couldn't get better.

you could score a ticket half hour before the show and see the Dead down at the fairgrounds. Can't believe it has been 15 years.I remember being at the concession stand when they broke into Baba O'Reily, hearing Vince and thinking that Roger Daltrey was on stage with the Boy's. Thanks For The Memories!!!

Good memories
Wow! Does this bring back some wonderful memories of this great show at the best place to see the Dead (or any show)...the late Cal Expo in Sacramento.

Tons of flat grass to dance and its surrounded by a U-shape raised general admission seating. The show was fun, it was a warm day/evening and this set is jammin'! The sound quality is amazing. So as I am wrapping up Christmas gifts this is the perfect show to have as background music!

Separation. A competent overall run of shows displaying ensemble playing and tactile awareness of one another. Vince is superb both playing and singing. I am compelled to reward this show a 5, even though it's not the one everybody talks about in whispered hush. Yet this show is so solid in performance and presentation that it warrants a five star recognition.

The best Standing On the Moon ever? The tempo is painfully slow, Garcia hacks the lyrics, and the music played in place of an entire verbal passage is

at best alarmingly basic, if not completely uninspired. They could have launched Jesus Christ out of a cannon during this SOTM and it still would only be average. Taking into consideration the band's playing and the quality of the recording this show deserves no more than 3 stars.

got. My roomate met a guy with a wall of tapes. 5000 + tapes all GD. My roomate picked 10 tapes out of Deadbase and he had 9 of them. 5-21-92 set 2 is what the guy picked out as tape # 10 and it has remained my favorite ever since. One of my top 3 Scarlet> Fire if not top. High energy the whole way through the second set. Wow, the best Standing on the Moon ever! He forgets a verse and never looks back. The most feeling and emotional jamming and singing during the climax of this, it's inspiring. And the sound of this recording is incredible. You can hear Jerry's fingers slide on the strings and Phil is so crisp. Get this at all costs!!!! I am getting teared up now listening to it, too many electric nights with this as the soundtrack to not feel this right to the bones! Just stream this and skip to track #7, you will download before it's over! 6 STARS!!!
