This was the first night of the three Manhattan Center shows. As everyone knows, several tracks from "Grateful Dead" came from the 2nd and 3rd nights.
...
The best night of the run was April 5 (Not Fade Away/GDTRFB and Big Railroad).
But this night was special. Yes, pound for pound 4/5 was better, but there are several magnificent moments from this show. Unfortunately, most will never listen to them because, unlike the other two nights, this night didn't enter circulation with the others as a 'Betty Board.'
Here are are my favorite moments. This is my favorite Bobby McGee solo (of all time; 2-18-71 second place). The band comes together, following Jerry in a really beautiful way at the second go through.
The Morning Dew is exquisite, perhaps rivaling the 4/28 and 4/29 Fillmore Easts.
The St. Stephen ... you had to have been there.
The Good Lovin' got pretty intense.
Other stuff is good too, but these are the tunes that stand out in my memory.
These shows were billed as 'Dance concerts."
The shows were oversold. I experienced something at this show that (thankfully) I never endured again.
My buddy Jimmy and I worked our way as far to the front as we could get. It was fairly/middling close... Get this... there were *so many* people in the audience that if somebody somewhere started to tip in one direction, the entire crowd started to fall. There was litrerally not enough room to stand up!
I remember seeing a young lady being carried out.
Between songs was paranoia city because of this. But once the music started back up -- it was Golden!
For me, a unique experience.
I consider this one of the best of the March/April shows (along with, say, 3-18, 3-24, 4-5, 4-12, 4-27/28/29).
Too bad there's no Betty Board...
I wish I didn't have to rate shows with stars because shows like this are really unrateable because of the poor sound quality. I can't recommend a download, but state for the record that this was a great show.
Since I'm forced, I give 3 stars so no one will be upset if they download a show that they'll never listen to again because of the quality.

what happened to the other Man cntr shows that were up here. Even if sbd they should be available for stream. Right? They have not been commercially released.
...
Or does one JBgoode on skullk#ck diqualify and entire show. I really miss that Hog for you. Most of the month of April has been yanked. One of the top 2 Hard To Handles ever from Providence RI.is now gone and it has not been released by the milk em to death contingent. Same goes for Rotterdam 72. What gives?
