1)The the right channel of the Glassberg AUD was increased 4 dB. The audio channels were uneven.
2)The Glassberg source (the preferred source for this matrix) appears to contain 2 AUD sources in it. Towards the end of Drums there is a cut in the AUD; after the cut, a strikingly different sounding AUD is patched into the source. The quality of this “other” source was pretty bad, with some bass overload. Very luckily, Jim Wise's AUD was available and sounds just as good as Glassberg's, so I used it from that section in Drums onward to the end of the show. The audience happens to be a little more “defined” in Wise's source, but I ultimately prefer Glassberg's AUD for its richer tonal quality. So, there is a “complementary” shift in sound during Drums, but it sounds pretty much the same and is all good.
3)There were cuts in the AUD and SBD. Significantly, there were cuts in the SBD during Jack Straw (first few seconds), Shakedown Street (first 2:08 of track), Playing in the Band (8:33-9:41), and Sugar Magnolia (last few seconds of song).
4)There were some wacky fluctuations in the SBD mix during the earlier portion of Set 1. There will be moments of extra hiss, changes in vocal and guitar sound, sounds levels, etc. Some of it may be some exciting pedal work by Garcia, but this has not been verified.

Average Show, Great Matrix

-> Big River. The energy slowly peters out as the first set draws to a close, however, and never really picks up again in the second. There isn't too much special to comment on here, aside from Brent's missing vocals. Other recordings of this show share the same issue. You can hear him if you listen closely during Stella Blue, though only faintly. Descriptions of the show by those who attended note that a mic was set up for Phil – perhaps Brent simply didn't have a mic? The quality of this matrix, by the way, is simply excellent. It sounds like you're there.

Excellent MTX
The Shakedown, Samson and Playin' are amazing. The first set is not as hot, and personally I don't find the set to be the most interesting.

Brent vocals?
Really digging this show. Is it me or can you not hear Brent's vocals at all? He's playing his face off but I don't hear him singing.

favorite Shakedown Street. There was always something magical about the Nassau Coliseum, and the boys usually rocked out there in top form. During Shakedown, it's like the guys are using telepathy during the long jam, like their minds are on exactly the same wavelength. The first minute or so is a good AUD, and then the SBD kicks in and the whole thing takes off. Phil is thumping, and Bobby and Brent are driving the rhythm while Bill and Mickey provide a scorching, boogie inducing tempo. Then Jerry slays it over the top of everything, and they bounce into the final verse in perfect unison. 14 minutes of musical communion! Superb! Other Highlights include Let It Grow, Samson and Delilah, and Terrapin. In fact, the whole show from top to bottom is excellent, absolutely worth a listen.

For all you guys who remaster, make fine matrix's etc. like this one you may feel sometimes that your labor of love may perhaps go unnoticed or unappreciated

but in my corner world that is not the case. Thank You! Obviously you guys do this work out of your love for these shows and are happy to do it yet I feel indebted somehow as I freely reap the rewards for all your efforts. Well, at least know work of this quality is appreciated in a major way. If there is a show truly deserving of a "you are there" moniker (which can be overused imo) this is one of them. This show is meant to be cranked!!! Do it! 4 Star show. 5 Stars for an epic matrix. btw, Big Thanks to SDH for the heads up to this Matrix.
