just for those that didn't know about the jerry low guitar issue.trading tapes (yes cassettes) back in the day around 1986 there was a couple of tapes circulating of 6/11/76 Boston which was excellent in its own right. and 6/10/76 Boston. in trading,i was always persistent and ended up with many low gen crispy (as we called them) tapes of some great shows. i had a 'crispy' tape of 6/10/76 but it was so bittersweet because jerrys guitar was only barely audible, like his guitar mic was off or down. that maybe the little bit of him you could hear was just bleeding through the monitors or something. SO that said, ive stumbled upon this gem and eureka jerrys up! and up he is! this is a very nice sounding matrix recording.there seems to be a painstaking effort to get this soundboard in sync with a very nice audience. the one thing that i know for sure now is that jerry was actually audible in the house. i always wondered if it was like a bummer show and no one could hear jerry all that night. and it helps me to now appreciate what a great show it is. get this its a must have!

Robert Hunter has to be one of the most underrated songwriters of the 20th century.
Of course many Dead Heads realize the depth of his lyrics, but...
When I actually look at lyrics to Mission in the Rain, Might as Well or even Standing on the Moon, and so on...I`m just beside myself. That is reason to explore the GD in later years as the songwriting remained at a high level.
To categorize the GD as simply a jam band is a description the somehow misses it`s mark.
As well, I`ve come to realize Weir and Barlow have had some song writing achievements. I had listened to Mexicali Blues for years thinking it was a standard-it is that well written. Oh and this show... I`m enjoying it. There is non need for me restate what everyone else has already said here.

As with most Bertha sources (though you have to look to note this one is).

The sound on this board is MUCH fuller than any of the others outside the matrix, which may have slightly more Jerry in the mix, but matrix is a little boomy in the mid range for me. The other boards are focussed in the middle and do not have the expanse that this one does. God bless you Jay. Unfortunately, the Nugs source referenced below is no longer there. I believe that is the one I had on tape as it was up there with some of the best boards I had.

The music here is stellar. I have had all these Bostons for almost 30 years and still come back to them and enjoy. The wooden sound of '76 is hard to beat. Unlike any other year. Just an overall solid show. Snag and enjoy.

It's worth the price of admission just to hear Mission In The Rain. I made two of the four shows in '76 at the old Music Hall.....loved that place. A good show, overall, but a notch below the 1977 peak. Still a 5.....hard to rate it less.

I was lucky enough to have been at this show, with good seats about 15 or so rows back. I recorded it on a stupid little handheld cassette thing; nice to hear an actual good recording.

Great venue; I made three of the four nights...missed 6/9. My best memory of the show was "Mission in the Rain," which was really soulful. Jerry was really spot-on. Funny...in my recording, when he is singing "ready to give anything," a female usher right next to me says "CAN I SEE YOUR TICKET PLEASE?" real loud to some hippies who were standing in the aisle, which was forbidden at this show.

The reviewer named "ascheylus" is a piece of shit. They have copied and pasted " boycott" in the subject line and "I can't download it so what the f*** is the use?

in the body of the reviews. Then they have assigned a one star rating to all the shows that have been reviewed.


If you're so fucking stupid that you feel the need to waste all of our time with this crap then get out of here. I'm not going to reprint it here, but if you take a bit of time checking out the heavily reviewed shows, you will inevitably run into instructions on how to get these shows on disc.

On the basis of ascheylus and the other reviewer who claimed they couldn't hear Jer the whole show giving this show 1 stars, it has been lowered in the ratings. A lot of people probably look through the list of shows and check how many stars it has. This particular show isn't the greatest of all time, but it is damn good. Hopefully someone looking for a damn good 76 show doesn't skip over this on the basis of ascheylus's mindless review. I'll give it 5 to balance out his bullshit, in reality i would rate this 8 out of 10.

First Mission is a beaut. What a great song this was. The entire show is a grand experience in streaming audio made posssible by a nifty Bertha Remaster. Also, this show contains a wonderful Let it Grow. A superb recording of a very good show, You can't go wrong with this one.

A great show. I dont know what was with the other 2 reviewers saying you cant hear Jerry because I can hear him throughout the whole show but w/e. They Love Each Other sounds great. I dont know whats with the really short Music Never Stopped but it still sounds good. Also an amazing Franklin's Tower.

Good sound quality to go along with it, you can really hear the whole band playing.

5-great sound and great show

What else can I say, this show is impecpable! The band was tight as hell, Jerry's vocals were sweet, and Donna didn't screw it up with any off key howls. Mission was heavenly. Looks like Rain was the best "Donna" version ever, and Bobby was spot on, Billy was all over the place, and the rest of the boys just flowed perfectly, great tempo too, wow! It even compares with the 11-15-87 Long Beach version (which I was at). But this might be my new fav., just amazing. Help/Slip/Frank was tight and clean. I can go on... This has got to be one the best shows during the Keith/Donna period. I was never a big fan of that era, but this has definitely changed my opinion. Quality was incredible too. Thank you so much for sharing this copy!

Actually the live broadcast on WBCN was the last night of the 4 night run at the Music Hall on 06-12-1976. A great 4 night run and return from retirement!

Sound = 4.0 ; Show = 4.0 A classic and highly circulated show originally broadcast on WBCN. The highlight of course is mission in the rain which was only played 5 times by the Dead...all in 1976.

This 6/10/76 recording is the choice recording, so far. Seems as though this date will never shake the reputation of jerry being low in the mix, frankely it's not a real problem on this copy.
Unmentioned it seems, there are a bunch of gaps in the recording, U.S. Blues fades out at the end, Lazy Lightnin, TLEO... there are 5 copyies of this on the archive alone including 2 aud's, lets get this patched up. I'd appreciate it a bunch.

5 star performance, 4 star recording for now.

this sounds good. sounds clean (very). sounds fun. if even the Looks Like Rain sounds great, you know its a good nite. i don't notice the quiet jerry too much, the band as a whole, and the performance makes up for it. plus, he is there, just not up front. and yes, musta mentioned the Mission in the Rain. brings ya to ya knees with tears. in-control, tasteful donna is always a plus. more than a plus, its beautiful. listen to some JGB with donna, keith, even Maria Muldaur, for some great Jerry and Donna stylings. it makes the other screeching times m ore tolerable.

Mission in the Rain is phenominal! Great TMNS

Downloaded before I read the reviews. It's true, no Jerry! A smalll pluck here and there, I deleted the whole show.

I first acquired a copy of tidbits from David Gans' spins. Even then the copy was low on Jerry. I checked Nugs after reading the review below and I didn't find anything (only Oakland from fall '76). I'd love a crispy copy with Jerry up front. I am a fan of Boston Music Hall '76 in the biggest baddest, most wikkid way.

Regardless, this is a great performance. Worth it. 4 for Jerry in the background at times during the mix.

Actually I dl'd this a while ago, but I've always been drawn to this performance. It's an extremely pleasant listen. It could be near perfection with Jerry up.

There is a crystal clear board of this at nugs.net and it is off the charts - This is a very hot show and I agree with the others Jerry is not audible - These effects sound computer generated rather than from the board's mikes either way - this does not sound like a board.

This is a very hot show just not this version.

I sampled tracks 1,3, and 5 of the third set and then, with regret, discarded the CD's burned from the downloads. The submitters say this is a sbd source and who am I to say no, but it wasn't a stereo source, and, as noted, Garcia is waaay down in the mix. Hearing Playing in the Band without a clearly audible lead will be a special treat for Phil Zone fans, not to mention those of Keith the painerman.

This SBD is better than the usual bad mix I constantly hear. The sound is a bit warmer and the vocals aren't so overbearing. I'll give it a strong 3 1/2 to 4 stars just for the sound.

If you loved "The Dead" then this is the show for you, because there's no Jerry here either. Maybe it's just me but try streaming Music Never Stopped and try to hear Garcia beyond a brief appearance in the intro. Sounds like Parrish accidentally set up his amp in the Bruins pro shop on the first floor.Everyone else sounds great and I love the Bertha remasters but I'd stick with the 9th and 12th from this run.

Wow. I haven't made it all the way through this show yet, as I just DL'ed it for my morning commute, but my headphones are still in my ears.

The sound is so rich, warm, deep and nicely balanced, and what a beautiful and soulful performance. It has that brightness and depth of Europe '72 and those hot healy Matrix boards.

This is a great moment in the Dead cannon. They weren't quite as brash as '77 but just as technically sophisticated. They sound downright classy and professional. Song selection is diverse, rockin', sweet, cosmic cowboy and the slightest bit psychedelic. And dare I say it, Donna sounds as good as she ever has.

I like it when people tell me to listen to a show, so I'll do the same. Download this show. I'll refund your bandwidth if you don't like it.

Yea, this is like the best sounding show ever. And Keith is on fire!!! Listen to Slipknot, I swear his playing is Europe 72 all over again. He really leads the jam. Phil is in fine form and the set list is awesome. And yes, Mission In The Rain is one of Jerry's all time best tunes. There are many great JGB versions. This Bertha remaster is very fine. Great job to those involved.

This show is well worth the download if it is only for mission in the rain. What a damn beautiful song. Too bad the dead only played it like 5 times. Rest of the show is good and the sound quality very nice. Dont hesitate.

The sound quality on this one is unbelievable. Maybe the best out of any show I've heard. All instruments are perfectly mixed, and the warmth of the hall really shines through. You can really FEEL the place rocking! Pretty good show, too. Relatively straight up. This would be a great one to hook your newbie friends with. Four stars for the show, six for the sound.

What a pleasure to relive the days of the past. These Music Hall shows are a real treat. They always played their best there and the sound quality is unbelievable. Now I can die a happier man. Thank you for a fantastic show
