Good Morning Little School Girl, Mama Tried, China Cat Sunflower-> I Know You Rider, Viola Lee Blues Candyman, Friend Of The Devil, Deep Elem Blues, Black Peter, Uncle John's Band Good Lovin'-> Drums-> Good Lovin', Cowboy Song, It's A Man's World, Cryptical Envelopement-> Drums-> The Other One-> Cryptical Envelopement-> Me & My Uncle, Not Fade Away-> Turn On Your Love Light
complete; SBD MR> C> D> CD + AUD MC> 4C> D> CD; AUD taper Harry Ely; sources assembled by Hanno Bunjes, with thanks to Julian for the SBD and Uli for the AUD; Hanno's notes
This is the complete show. The SBD contains //Me & My Uncle through Uncle John//, the rest is spliced in from the AUD tape recorded by Harry Ely.
Contrary to the current Deadlists entry, the Other One drums and the Lovelight in this version are both complete - they were spliced in from a very old source which had these segments intact.
thanks to Julian for the SBD and Uli for the AUD sources assembled by H.B., 11/01

Cowboy song=Ramblin Jack Elliot
The singing sounds like Ramblin' Jack to me. That would be why it was labeled 'Cowboy Song' on the tape, since it isn't a real song, but he was a real cowboy. Prototypical A-E jam, later applied as the intro to Sugar Magnolia.

Cowboy Song
Per
Deadlists.com:
"Cowboy Song" is an Instrumental improvisation involving audience participation on a hoe-down type riff with an unknown vocalist conducting in a sort of scat & yodel fashion (it isn't Marmaduke or Ramblin Jack or David Bromberg -- maybe it's Nelson on acid?); this one-time-only affair never had a name -- the title comes from tape labels.

Nice record of a fun sounding show
Does anyone know where The Cowboy Song came from? It doesn't sound like something they went into while tuning and it doesn't seem like a song they would come up with in general. Were they on the bill with someone else that night who might have joined them onstage? It's definitely an oddity for the boys to just pull out.
Friend of the Devil is also AUD for the first few minutes and then continues in a sweet SBD.

Cool show; Amazing AUD recording
I was really impressed with the AUD parts of this show. A very nice job, particularly given how early it was. Many thanks to all the folks who contributed to putting this together and making it available. This is a treasure; they were so good during this period and so much of it doesn't survive.

good dead
It's A Man's World is excellent as is NFA. Whether Man's world is 4/9 is dubious. First set apprarently contained Schoolgirl, China Rider and Viola Lee Blues. Acoustic on down matches actual setlist. First electric set is basically unseen and a smoker.

Not the right audio for this date
Great show, but set list in description doesn't match these songs. Deadbase matches the description set list. Where's the show with Good Morning Little School Girl, Mama Tried, China Cat Sunflower-> I Know You Rider ?
BTW, some audio issues in It's a mans world.

The first part is super high quality,
and both Man's World and the cowboy thing are great. The rest of the tape sounds horrible, and a lot of the Dead's regular repertoire isn't played that well. I think they were a little bored; they hadn't yet morphed into the "never repeat a song in 2 consecutive shows" band they later became.

Cowboy --> Sugar Mags?
Doesn't anyone else hear the so-called "cowboy" jam quoting Sugar Magnolia's riffs?

A Very Strange & In & Out Show
And as bad as it is, it is not so bad that I cannot award this version of this show a full 5 stars.
Whoever did this presentation has an extreme love for this music and for mankind, in general.

Very Nice
The acoustic soundboard is of course sublime, and the audience portion is not too too bad. Very exciting Other One.
