and than the mix is all sorts of inconsistant. the playing performance sounds like it was well enough but who knows what they on stage where hearing. I read somewhere that the dead felt like they played there best when there was tension in the music, and worst when it seemed like none. Snob down you people not the best show but thank god that we have like a billion others to pick from.

My First Concert
This was my first concert ever. Dead show. My friend (Gildo) and I (at 16) lied to our parents (I was sleeping over his house- and he was sleeping over

at mine) and jumped on the train from the Jersey Shore (Manasquan, NJ). Friday the 13th at night in NYC as a teen-ager. Wow. Enter NYC. Deadheads all over the streets in downtown NY. Best night of my young life! What an awesome experience, the band sounded great, Bruce was jamming - Jerry and the boys jammed on, and on. Whipp-its in the bathroom in Central Station, OMG. I wish I could go back in time. As a 33 year old now, I didn't fully appreciate what I was witnessing. Thanks to this archive site I can go back in time and get back to MSG.... What a night. To the guy (Wrat) that said this was the one of the worst Dead concerts of all time - lighten up man. This was the highlight of my adolescence -so don't hate on it. RIP Jerry, wish I saw more shows...

is potentially the worst Grateful Dead show ever played. Never mind how the set list looks. The band was off key, lackluster, and uninspired all night long. Every time we thought they'd pull out of their funk, they had a couple good minutes, and boom, they'd sink lower into the hole from which they were attempting to climb out. Toward the end of Fire, out of nowhere, Jerry set his guitar down abruptly and walked off stage, leaving the others to jam without him. The devil was in POSSESSION OF THEIR SOULS this evening. TS>NFA was so ultra boring, poorly played, and worn out after all the times they did it. They ended this DUD of a show appropriately enough with the worst possible encore selection, played at its most plodding and monotonous pace. I actually would have been dissapointed if they played a killer encore. But, of course, on this night, that was not possible! After 9/8 and 9/9, this show was the ultimate BUZZ KILL!!!!!!!!!!

lyrics and it just seemed to go downhill from there. the whole show just seems a tad slow for me unlike the previous garden shows this one just didnt have the punch i am lookin for in 1991 shows. the victim>scarlet>fire does absolutely nothin . seems like the band is just goin through the motions . i like the other garden shows from this run much better . especially the night before . 9-12 . not a spectacular setlist but very well performed. unlike this 9-13 show ..sorry ....!!! sound quality is average for fall 1990 sbd's..

think the solo is over - but he just keeps going! Bringing it higher & higher until it just explodes! And the NY crown goes F-IN NUTS!! To be honest, I don't remember much else from the show as I don't think I had the entire show, but IMHO, this is worth downloading for the Scarlet alone... Giving this 4 stars based on A) The Scarlet, obviously & B) It's Fall '91 with Bruce... How bad could it be, especially in NY or Boston... :) Keep on keeping on & thank you archive!!!

which is damn hot! 50 shows, 300 tapes and 13 years later here I am... One clear memory was that Bobby cut off Stella a bit too early. It was a great version and jerry was taking his time winding it down before taking us home with a few rockers. When bobby cut in with the first cords of Throwin, you could see jerry give him a little look. The exchange went full circle at the end of throwin when jerry turned, looked right at bobby and forcefully sang the line, "I've got mine and you've GOT YOURS!". Now, it could have been the atmosphere, or the extra curriculars or my over excitement at my first show but I swear thats how I saw it! Give a listen and decide for yourself...
