I am on an amazing journey
I am listening to every 1994 show in order, mining for gold.
Rare King Bee that doesn't pull together until the end. Very good FOTD & Desolation Row. Tennessee Jed fires on all cylinders. Phil is on fire throughout.
The second set is worth a listen if you are into the pan flute MIDI (Eyes), and the Crazy Fingers>Corrina>Drums>Space>Last Time>SOTM is all not to be missed. The end of SOTM explodes. The I Fought the Law is worth pulling up in the AUD tapes to listen to.
Can't wait to hear the final night of this run as well. It's supposed to be a good one.

About This Show
I haven't listened to any archive shows from this night. I like SBD but also seek out AUDS that have the right sound and the right amount of crowd roars to go with it.
Overall the show is average or less than average for GD music. But during this night on tour, it was a good time. The band and fans were tired from the Nassau run. That gace this shows the mellowness of Dark Star imo.
As for this night, yes, all the comments here are true in the big picture of GD music. Eyes was great, Circumstance was tight, and SOTM was epic. It marks the first time Garcia would reprise the song.
Now, granted, I do not know all things Grateful Dead. And forgive me for not being more to the point. We're getting to the juicy part now. Even though there was a lot of improv, we all know the band had its formulaes. For whatever reason, the reprise of SOTM happened in what felt like an unplanned moment in the heat of passion.
After building up that guitar solo to the point of the crowd drowning out the sound, he reprised it with vocals, and the place went through the roof. In the seconds beteen the peaking guitar solo and the vocal reprise, Jerry picked up his microphone stand with both hands, held it, and walked about three steps backwards onstage, then slammed it down hard with one hand on the veriticle pole, then used his other hand on the actual mic to push down the verticle pole towards his mouth. He didn't let go with that hand on the mic for second and started to belt out he Be With You ending.
I know we should rate this on the quality of playing. But, in terms of being in the moment, i have never seen anything like it before by the Fat Man. And, well, in a way it felt expected in that moment. It wasn't surprising; it was just really crackling with energy. The place exploded.
Who knows? Maybe they had to take a leak really bad. Althogh two songs out of space is too short, I did not feel anyone or hear anyone complaining about it in that moment. It was a mind blowing moment of sound in timelessness. It felt like you couldn't top it.
To say Bobby felt upset about it feels untrue to me for that moment. Although, speaking of which, after the 4-1 set 2 with the mellow set two, Bob got antsy for a rocker and shifted the spacey moood into Miracle. i'm not complaining. But that's how it came across to my eyes and ears. Parts of this show are memories of etched into my mind like carvings into stone. Other parts are a total blur.
Another tidbit is that, at one point, one of Phils' kids came out to get his attention. Phil got really animated, playing just for him. After this went on non-stop for at least a minute or two, the band was waiting for him to return to the fold for the transitions. Weir walked over and had to remind him of the bigger show being played. Phil walked back to his spot, and the band transitioned into the next part.

Better than I Remember It
This show is actually better than I remember it. First set if forgettable. However, second set has some nice playing. Good versions of Eyes and SOTM as others have mentioned. Setlist leaves a lot to be desired.

Only a few memorable moments..
This was a below average show at the Omni wedged between two good ones- the next day 4/1 was awesome. The Eyes was THE highlight, but mostly this show was only ok. Notice only two songs after Space (both Jerry tunes), ending the set with Standing On The Moon. Everyone in the building expected a Bobby rocker after that, but at the end of SOTM Bobby quickly tucked his guitar under his arm and marched off stage. Show over. He was obviously not too happy with the evening. I'd recommend 3/30 or 4/1 over this one.

So-So show
This show was OK...dragged on the first set honestly. The Eyes opener for 2nd set was awesome! My buddies and I dropped a little too much liquid at that one, which most likely enhanced the show a bit, but we had a fun time. Kids, see shows sober...it's actually not that bad. :)

not too bad 11 years later
I left this show thinking that the boys were running on fumes. The sound of the Omni for the first few numbers was bad. The SOTM is great as previously noted, but the Eyes is particularly long, creative and well played (something I did not remember until downloading it from the site)- I guess I had already written the show off after the first set, even with King Bee (which wasn't very good at all). I would recommend getting the Eyes if you want to pass on the entire show.

King Bee
This was the final King Bee and only the second time they played it in over 23 years. Great standing on the Moon, jerry really touched the crowd for I was at this show. IFTL encore was also great, too bad it is left out. Anybody have a copy with it. It was great show being there and listening to it.

worst show?
It would be worth it to grab SOTM. The connection between Jerry and the crowd is at an all time high. There is really something special there, even if you were not at the show. I suggest listening to at least that track at a very high volume!!! My overall rating would be a 3 but SOTM gets a 5.

Worst Show of the Year?
I left this show feeling let down after the blowout the night before. The band seemed tired and uninspired. The novelty of seeing "King Bee" wore off soon after. If you were there you may want to download this. Otherwise, there are far better shows from '94 to sink your teeth into. You won't miss anything here.
