Not sure what all the fuss is regarding this capture. The digi noise is to prevalent for my ears. I prefer B. Mandels Nak 300 capture http://db.etree.org/shn/78439.

I remember this as a low key, mellow show. Nothing spectacular yet nothing disappointing. Very nice and enjoyable evening with the Dead.

Subject: Great sounding '85 show!
Cold Rain and Snow gets this show off to a good start. There is some great energy and enthusiasm and Jerry's vocals sound pretty good. The Bottom/Superstitious
...
continues the pace with a lot of group interplay and funky, bluesy soloing by Jerry. His leads during the vocals are hot. Phil is prominent and everyone is eventually going nuts during the jam's peak. FOTD takes the mood doen a bit but is well played and surprisingly well sung. The harmonizing in particular s very good throughout. Brent takes the first solo and while it starts slowly, it eventually builds with some nice rolling licks. Garcia follows and rips it up with a beautiful note filled fluttering solo. The Supplication Jam is a nice rare 1st set treat. There is some great group improvisation. Very lively with enthusiasm. Phil lays down some amazing lines under Jerry's fiery noodling. This goes on for a while and before segueing into a spirited Esau. The Jed has decent vocals, which are rough in some patches. A bit slow abut nothing spectacular with an average solo. Minglewood starts off clunky but picks up quickly featuring great solos, especially Brent's hammond. A rousing Don't Ease ends the set and Garcia growls out the jailhouse key line.
The second set starts out with an amazing selection, Terrapin! Jerry sounds great and there is an extended jam after the shed light line. The vocals get a bit rougher toward the finish but otherwise this is a perfect version. The outro jam develops into a bouncy, lively Man Smart. The transition is a bit awkward but it soon gets going. There are some nice background vocals and it slows to a whisper before bursting into a joyous loud finale. Goin' Down keeps things lively. After some odd noodling it segues into a decent Baby, What You Want Me to Do? Brent always plays this well and this is no exception. Nice and bluesy with passionate singing and great soloing, especially Brent o the B3. This goes into some more noodling that eventually segues into a bluesy jam that makes a while to develop into something interesting. It slowly builds up steam with some dueling solos before fading into Drums. Space fades into more Garcia noodling with nice textural white noise and feedback. Some amazing Brent work that actually sounds like strings at one point. Wharf Rat emerges and while the vocals are a bit rough, it fits the ballad and Garcia's solo is competent. The outro solo is cut off transitioning into a Throwing Stone>Johnny B. Goode. The Johnny is blazing fast, the fastest version I've ever heard. They absolutely tear through it in record time.

Well played, consistent and steaming. Great AUD too, you can't go wrong with the Oade brothers. Never mind Jer's froggy voice, he's cooking as are the

This was my first show. I was on the floor in the Phil Zone. At some point Jerry was going on and on, so Phil had to walk over and get him to come in
...
for a landing.
Nevertheless, I was blown away. I was only 16, and hadn't seen anything quite like this before. During "Tennessee Jed," I turned around, looked up and saw about 19,000 people swaying back and forth in unison.
The capper, though, was after the show when my friend and I were heading for the exit, we passed a guy staring off into space and muttering, "It was better last night."

...And the winner is: Johnny B. Goode @ 192 BPM. Don't think I've ever heard it played that fast before.
