A 22 minute Playing in 1986
It's every bit as good as I thought it would be. That's what I wanted to hear, less singing, more jamming, especially as their voices got worn out.

Sparkling Sound
Sparkling sounding board, but most of these pre-coma '86 shows are ridiculously short.

This was one of those shows. the kind that they knew it seemed like. there were glasses of funny liquid going around one sip was alll that was needed.

'true story' not sure where it came from but was going around rite after the first set. anyone else remember? One of those shows we were told to be careful. and after all these years i still remember standing in the isle for the OTHER one about ten rows back jerrys side. totally blown away. I think back on these good old days. often!!!!!! I have had a copy of this shows sound board for years ,i wish i had a aud. I loved the community theater small close feeling.almost sounds like there is no one at the show. California shows were so nice in those days people just seemed to be there for the music not the big parking lot action of the late 80's

space your face
Brent brought more to the table than Keith and here's why. Short, but waaaaay out there. Nice.
A fairly common tape (for 86) on the trading circuit back before the archive.... This copy sounds UNREAL!!!! Listen to the Big RR. It is awesome!!! It

will make you listen to the whole thing. The second set is short but totally fricking mesmerizing. If you dig the spacey stuff, this one's for you. Even the Sugar Mag is tripped out. This is not your normal 86 stylee.....

'86 is bittersweet
1986 has always been bittersweet to me because of Jerry's downward spiraling health. He just looked awful that year. Anyway what a Board!! As crispy

as they come!! Short but pretty hot. Nice Playin and Other 1. Is there anything better than a crispy Soundboard?

Short & Sweet
Haven't gotten around to set 1, but owing to Jerry's slowly failing health, the boys round out a barely 75 minute second set, but provide some interesting

musical passages along the way. The aforementioned Crazy Fingers starts things off, rocky at first, but the band seems to find a nice deep, spacey groove that dovetails into a lengthy Playin>Jam. Jerry is pleasantly coherent during the extended passages in playin' but at best 25 minutes pre-drums must have left the faithful wanting. A good polyrythymic Drums/Space segment melts into an unusual, almost a cappela (at least at the beginning) Other One and a creepy China Doll. The back end picks up the loose threads of Playin, a well played Sugar Mags and Quinn to close out the proceedings. Sound quality is excellent, and the whole set fits on one disc.

Crazyfingers
How can you go wrong with a 2nd set that opens with Crazyfingers? After a pretty average 1st set, this one sets the tone for the rest of the show. Really

nice 2nd set. How can you go wrong with a tune that has a line as mundane as "seems like it might be alright"? Does that strike as deep with anybody as it does me? Only this band and this gee-tar player...Excelent sound quality to boot. I think after 17 years of DH-dom I have yet another new favorite tune. What took me so long? I still don't care too much for Black Peter, but someday...?
