I could be biased because I saw shows there, but I think the band's Greek Shows are, across the board, better than at any other venue they played repeatedly.

These '86 shows were no where near the '85 shows (I was at both). Jerry almost died after the end of this tour and it was apparent on the first tune (Midnight
...
Hour) that Jerry was struggling with his playing. Listen to how sloppy the first solo is. I have played jazz guitar for 35 years and this was one of those +/- a fret nights were Jerry was a step high or low and was really struggling. I remember him almost falling over during Midnight Hour. These shows wre such a letdown after the year before.

a nice sounding show, and captures the crowd energy, but Bob's voice sounds pretty off to me and nothing super-exciting

The other reviews were accurate. I had good friends and good fry for the first and third shows. On the second day,we kicked hack in the soccer court area
...
where the speakers were. There was some wild police in riot gear getting bottled by some biker/Berzerkoids over some chick smokin a J. It happened right next to the soccer sceen, on the same side of the street. Real comic and sad at the same time. What a thing to remember... that guy got beat down by like at least six unifoms, and nothing happened to the chick not even popped. That theater rules

My first Greek show and my first time dosin'. The buzz started workin' it's way in between sets, as the sun was goin' down. Peaking for post D/S. My oh

my!
Comes a Time was deep, crazy and passionate. Roll call during GL was great! Everybody say "Phil! How do you do?!?!
And there's Ol' Garcia...
Took me until the Sunday afternoon show to fully recover. Check out the Sunday show as well. Nice mellow afternoon at what I think HAS to be the best outdoor venue.
For anyone who didn't get a chance to "Peak at the Greek" check out this link to Susana Millman's website with her pictures of Greek 8-18-89. The second pic appears in the booklet in Without a Net. A mutal special friend got Susana to make a beautiful enlargement of the first pic for me, and had it beautifully framed. She gave it to me the night my dad died.
Check out the rest of Susana's pics too, and order one if you please.

What I remember most about this show was the Comes a Time. The first verse and following chorus had such a great build up and Jerry's solo afterwards
...
just took off and the song kept building up. Jerry dod came in late for the 2nd verse after that solo. The crowd just started cheering in the middle of the last chorus for no apparant reason but it just kept building up and Jerry took that energy into his singing. Great moments there.
While it's hard to compare any Greek show to the 20th Anniversary run a year ago or the Dark Star show in '84, still the best Dead experiences and shows during the 1980s were at the Greek. This show was a great one too.
