This show is much better than I remember. I was 14 at the time, and afterwards, my brother and his friend ripped the show a new one, complaining about
...
the terrible setlist. Well, it was a poor setlist, but Shakedown is a fine show opener, Samson is a near-best ever version, Sailor>Saint is blisteringly hot, and the jam out of He's Gone is why we all went to shows. Maybe this show just seems better by comparison to the boring, mail-in shows they would sometimes do in later years. In 81, even the worst nights were at least interesting.
BTW, yes, that is a MLB tease just before drums. There's also a bit of Nobody's Fault just after the last chorus of He's Gone.
The sound is clean but not too well mixed. Turn up the high and low ends and it sounds great. I wouldn't give this show a 5 (really, is this in a league with, say, 11/11/73? Come on, people!) or even a 4, but it's a solid 3.

Bobby. The rest is like icing. Download at your leisure knowing what you're about to hear will proverbially knock your socks off. Great sound and a quiet crowd.

Good comments S.D.S... funny. I pretty much agree with you. Besides a few good things coming out of '82-'84, these late '81 shows were probably the last
...
gasp of the true, consistantly good band we all knew and loved. I don't even mind the "Satisfaction" ending as just adding a little difference in the usual State of Affairs. This is a close call to pronouncing "X" Factor. But I'll leave that for another day.
Except for the occasional cuts, very good audience recording also. Sounds like a hand-held with the clapping so close to the mike. And thankfully, everyone around seemed to be cognizant of the mike and kept their yaps shut during the quiet passages. I'll bet he was standing in the midst of tapers.
4 1/2 stars. Highly recommended listening.

Get this show....it sounds so snug that at times it could be mistaken for a board. Great first set with Jerry ad-libbing Candyman. "Wont you tell everybody
...
you meet that the candyman town." The second set is standard fare until He's Gone and the post-modern jam that insues. A little bit of the Truckin>Other One theme bounces around until some manic playing erupts. Its not a '73 Mind Left...but it is a rare treat in this pre-coma era. Bottom line the band was having fun and it shines through this FOB.
