Paramount Northwest Theater Seattle, WA | Listen on archive

Users have designated the following versions as heady!
6
Playin' In The Band
The jam in between is a fierce romp for four minutes. Short for '72 but gets to a boil.
6
Cumberland Blues
Chock full of heady summer '72 goodness. It's not quite 04/08, but tasty nonetheless.
9
The Other One
A jerry noodle fest, with nice compliments from Keith, Sweet Tiger meltdown following the verses, melts beautifully into a great comes a time
4
Drums
A truly fascinating Billy and Phil duet. Billy plays some amazing runs on the kit with some real tight Phil accompaniment.
3
Sugaree
Great Show Opener
2
Black Throated Wind
Get past murk with good headphones and you find a gem: Bobby's vox perfect, the arc powerful, Jer and Keith possessed.
5
China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
Unfortunate cut in CC, but the Rider is tremendous. Needs a cleanup bad - Paging Mr. Miller, help out please!
7
Stella Blue
Powerful and emotional, with great coherency and a tight structure. AUD cleanup in need.
2
He's Gone
Donna's brand new and sounds good. Sorry haters, but she's on here: Check the sweet outro.
1
Bird Song
Download Series Vol. 10. This version is sparkling. Everything you expect out of a great '72 w/cool OR. vibe. Beautiful midsong drum break & much more
3
Comes A Time
Much appreciated, as there soon comes a time when its more sporadic in the repertoire
1
Sugar Magnolia
A solid workout with a well-rendered buildup and a yelping SSDD
1
Ramble On Rose
Are there better versions out there? Undoubtedly! But this is still worthy of an entry. Some nice, tinkling piano.
3
Loser
Download Series - An intimate, casual living room Loser. Garcia coming out of the guitar break is divine. Not the actor.
3
Tennessee Jed
Ho-Hum: Another outstanding 1972 TJ. This gem from the sorta overlooked summer tour. Garcia aces the break, natch. Band - unconscious. Whew! at end.
5
Casey Jones
Surprised this has no votes. This version is played with a level of energy and precision CJ rarely ever got. Great set 2 opener.
3
Me and My Uncle
First off Casey Jones > WRS (kinda)> Uncle is a fuckin trip. This Uncle is played at a pace and has a real anger to it.
1
Truckin'
Bill is pounding and up front in the mix. Around the 3 min mark guitars drop out so its just Bob and drums for that section of the verse
2
Weather Report Suite
Just the Prelude, and barely at that. But the banter is funny and the way they smack into Me and My Uncle is heat!!!
