I only went to 1 GD show, fortunately I caught them my sophmore year in high school in New Orleans '88. Also 1 JGB show in Hampton '92or93. Tried to mail order tickets for the ChapelHill'94shows but w/out sucess.A guy in the nosebleed section at that N.
O.show kept heckling me(but in a friendly way of course)about asking me to buy one of his homeade TieDyes. Wow, I was converted right then and there. Shortly after , picking Shrooms ensued and unlimited Perceptions were explored. Gosh , undescribable attention to the songs St.Stephen > The Eleven from Monterrey '69 ( which I picked up at one of vendors in the French Market,RockNRoll Collectibles Music Store was selling bootlegs for the public at the time ).
Anyway, this version of LazyRiverRoad is flawless with regard to passion in Jerry's voice and mixing of the bands' acoustic percussion accompaniment. For years, I was just interested in taping the long jam pleasers like Scarlet, Franklins, Eyes, etc. It's hard to believe that after all these years, I'm finally discovering the shorter ballad-like compositions that one can just sit and contemplate on their brilliance, rather than always dancing into oblivion. "Lazy" is one of those songs that puts me on a golden road instantly.
Burners, check this one out, I think you will agree. As far as the rest of the show goes, i'm just now starting to sample the other songs. Man this website is unreal...I keep telling myself when I think of Archive.Org that Life Is Good. dave p. in New Orleans, Come to JazzFest People
