Subject: Hey, all Dead shows are worth listening to
I was at this one and the night before and it's striking how mellow and kind of on the lackluster side they are in this anything but mellow, New Yawk hockey
...
rink. However, Phil's side, right next to the speakers this second night, they didn't seem nearly as mellow as the night before. Don't let the date deceive you. This was a cold March in the northeast. Birdsong is a good one, worthy of its position in the set. WTGH doesn't disgrace the opener either, but we all know what became of that warhorse. Wave to the Wind really isn't played that poorly; it was really hard to follow at the time but they had it together by this point in the tour. I also felt it lent itself well to a transition into Drums. Some of the lyrics tho...Eesh. Pre-drums is a little blah but post Drums is pretty solid and focused as if they were just starting to wake up. The night before, I want to mention, has a spareness rare for a two keyboard show. This one is a little less so but it also portends how the band settles into a real mellow space with a sparse arrangements for the next several months.

Was there, 7th row center and the energy of the place was dull, slow and felt like we were at the opera...All the heads, even up front were sitting throughout
...
the first set, so SLOW, and by the time Wave to the Wind came around........well, you get the picture. Post drums salvaged the show somewhat.
Listening to it now, makes me wonder who was doing all that screaming and hollering in the audience. Sounds much better on tape than it did live.
Not worth your time really, but a bad dead show is still better than a good day at work for most people...

Good show but not great by any means. This tour fell perfectly over Spring break, plus a couple of days so off we went, Me & my dog Mabel, in the microbus
...
from Hampton through Philly. Followed Ron & Steph from INDY in their bus the whole way...them slingin' shirts & rain trees, me slingin' food...great times!
Still get chicken-skin listening to these shows!
The train horn simply blew everyone away and then closing with Box of Rain..make up call for Waving?
I truly miss the good ol' Grateful Dead!

I downloaded the second set shn files to go with the video of the 1st set I downloaded last summer from FurthurNet - which now seems DEAD (killed by attorneys
...
for the Dead? - not the Grateful Dead ...) email me @ plaeyn@yahoo.com ...
Maybe arc.org would like to fix the following?:
The shn file for Space also includes The Wheel - which is also a separate shn file.
The embedded player says Drumz is 4 seconds long ...

Cold Rain n snow out in the parking lot at Nassau this night. Other than the weather not too much stood out about this show except for the Train Horn!!!
...
Kruetzman came walking out from behind his kit with this huge horn strapped to his chest! I literally hit the floor when he laid on that thing.
Scared me half too death it was so damn loud!

OldSchoolJersey is correct. Wave to the Wind is a train wreak, and he's right about the chords too! I was at this show and it was certainly below average.

Otherwise good sounding source, but it appears transfer suffers from DAT mistracking (sizzle sound).

3 stars for a high-energy 1st set. 2nd set is average, save for a good Throwin (check out the jam).
Now I love Phil...but let me tell you...Wave to the ... Wind is a train wreck of a tune...there's no possible way to pack more maj7 or min9 chords in the space of 7 minutes...

This is the one, the show where Mickey & BIlly turned Nassau Colliseum into a giant freight-train tunnel; Definitely check out space on this one!
Quality ... is great, good show overall.
