All about perspective
I saw both nights at the Palace (was in Graduate School at the time).
I had not seen the band since Brent's death, and you must consider that when reading my review.
The band ( I felt) was still worth seeing and I am grateful to have taken in these two shows.
Highlights for me where a well executed Help>Slip>Franklin's; a solid Terrapin; and a long Around ( I saw so many of the "reelin' and rockin' Arounds from the early 80's - this was a nice change). I would pick the second night if I had to choose, but not by a long shot. I fought the Law just never grooved with me.
As I watched each night - I knew something had changed. Obviously, Brent's had passed nearly 3 years prior. But the whole ear piece thing and no audience banter left me feeling both shows, while adequate, where less spontaneous and laid back than I recalled 10 years earlier.
I was surprised that neither show appeared - from my vantage point - to be sold out.
Again, my perspective of the band had changed. I felt something went with Brent when he passed (and I mean the cohesiveness of the band more than his particular numbers.).
Anyway, God Bless and enjoy.
I give them 4 stars for the year. 3 over all.

very good show
This was one of the best shows I saw of about 80 from 90 to 95. In fact, most of the shows from the spring and summer tours of 93 were quite good. I realize I will catch hell for that sentiment, as anything post 90 usually gets slammed by many. I admit, I can do with Easy Answers, Eternity etc. which were common in those times. The HSF here is outstanding, so is the Bertha. China>Rider is solid. The post space segment is where it's at for me. This Wharf Rat is incredible and I'm not sure how anyone would not agree that it is a great performance of a beloved Jerry ballad. The Miller SBD is as fine as you would expect.

a smoking show for 93
I'm surprised there aren't more reviews of this one. This is a strong show, and Jerry's really nailing all his licks. Really nice, tight jamming of great songs. The first set hits its stride from Franklin's on -- minus Ch-easy Answers -- but including a nice Loose Lucy one of the best Bertha's I've heard in latter-day Dead. Jerry's dialed in. Old school jamming. The energy carries over into China -> Cat and picks up again in a great Terrapin, including a really interesting jazzy jam/transition into Drums. But really almost every song totally jams, except maybe wave to the wind and easy answers. check out jerry jamming at the end of wharf rat. you'd be hard-pressed to find a better version of this classic song. no kidding. a shining moment in what was a pretty spotty period for the Dead.
Download for the Bertha, China -> Rider and Wharf Rat, but enjoy the whole show.

My first concert...
I was 8 at the time - my folks wanted to make sure I felt the experience of a Dead show - but I still truely remember all the sights and sounds of the night. The music was the best, but what really made it unique was the deadheads in the parking lot! Peace and love to all!

Summer 93'
Nice pair of shows. Good HSF jJerry really belts out the vocals during frankilins. The Bertha is incredible my favorite post brent version. great piano by Vince Jerry's uptempo Solo reminds me of his pre-coma 82-84 style. By far the Best bertha the boys played after Brent died. The Birdsong from the night before is also one of the best of the 90's check it out. Lot of Gems from this year are out there somtimes you must focus on the songs individualy rather then the whole show but there is a more then enough steller material for a couple of live albums from 93'
