a 1/2 hour Playin>Terrapin. O.k. i bite pick it up at LOSER and the 1st thing I notice is the Dead are jamming at the pace I experienced Europe 90 at. Namely kicked in the head by a mule. Now perhaps that is not ideal, but truthfully life on the road is never completely ideal. It got bizarre for me in a hurry. Hard to even imagine being in the band and running the gauntlet that is international travel. Enjoying this show immensely, feeling like Garcia especially is hanging onto the vocals for dear life. Yes, the jams are slow but they are sweet. Althea especially I can see the smoke just rolling off Garcia's ash tray. Yes,Garcia takes a feisty run during Althea. It is good to hear Brent with his own distinct groove not just buried under the mix of 1978 MUSIC has some pathetic backing vocals but they are so wretched they make the band laugh. Just makes Weir attack the vocals even harder. I made the trek up to Sweden in 1990 and trust me I was completely out of sorts. I felt like i was on some other planet. Between the language difference and being way past where I had ever been in the Northern Latitudes. It is a wonder I managed to even dance. Anyway, I am very much digging on this. Sheeze they are ripping on the MNS jam. Even Mr. Lesh in their with the drummers. Scarlet>Fire-A whole different feel to S>F with Brent --also Phil does some great bass exploration. Jam is HOT! Reading more reviews. Not having any major sound issues, just listening with the headphones, pretty good separation on both vocals and instruments. The boys do seem to give up on some lyrics but they don't lose their place in the flow of the song. Anyhow, dig the review of the brother from Denmark, sounds to me that he was pretty stoked--DROWN IN YOUR LAUGHTER,,,DEAD TO THE CORE.

in 1981, as well as a worthy show, very much worth a listen. The Music to end the first set and the Scarlet>Fire, Playin' Terrapin are good

Is nobody noticing the flat playing or out of key singing?
I'm listening to this show right now, and cringing while listening. Sound quality isn't all that great, and they're playing like they're all on quaaludes.

Now, I know some people complain about tight shows done in a slower tempo, but this is not one of those cases. I actually enjoy those sets. This one is different, though. Such uninspired playing...

HA...and then the band arrived. I didn´t knew they was a bikers band, but ok - the drugs that killed some of the boys should come from somone... The music: I did not connect with the music in the first set. I remember beeing a bit dissapointet. And then came Fire on the mountin... By hering the show again i understand that Athea and Scarlet had waked me... and then live was GOOD. When GD goes deep into the musick they are god...No the Bedst!!

Phil's bass and Bob's guitar are just not present, and even Jerry's guitar mix is quite uneven. It almost sounds as if whoever was in charge of recording the show only had a limited amount of channels available, and just tried to make do with what they had; instrument and vocal levels are constantly fluctuating, depending on who has the solo. There are other shows from the Europe 1981 tour that are mixed much better, especially 10-4-1981 London. I'd look elsewhere for a Europe 1981 show and skip this one. Great musicianship...too bad you can't hear a lot of it. --Sean K.

Excellent jam after Terrapin. Great sound quality. I rarely give 5 star ratings, but this one deserves it...
