Subject: Naked Dude
I only ever saw two naked people at shows. At this one, a skinny guy with long hair, standing at back of floor with arms spread looking straight up to the ceiling. Hampton's like a space ship so I guess he was ready to take flight..... The other nakie was a beautiful woman running through the crowd in Tempe after the Telluride shows in 87?.....I was worried for her
This Hampton show was fun. Hampton was one of the best places they toured in later years because it was so small. The Scarlett/Fire booms and the Bird Song soars.

To the reviewer below, was that at all necessary??? Did we need to know that?
Otherwise, a fun show in a sometimes spotty year. Second set was a good time as long as you weren't near the guy listed below, I suppose. Not a must-have (IMHO), but OK.

I only remember a bit of this show. I was bleeding, jerking off, and pissing. Security had to carry me off. Great times though!

This was my friend Alan's first show. He was recording his experience on a tape recorder. He was tripping very hard and having a blast. At one point in the tape you can people telling him to put his clothes on. Then you can hear him being arrested by the Hampton cops. From start to finish this was one of the best tapes I ever heard.

He's Boss on "Used To Love Her" then his boy Jerry backs em' with a smoking solo all the while the bands keeping up not missing a beat.
Yea,I can imagine this was a party to be at.
Hampton 84 its when the carnival was about ripe for the pickin.

I remember seeing people on the floor giving him a wide berth, and then the cops escorting him away. I didn't actually see it, but the rumor was that he was jacking off. Go figure.

I was up in the stands and remember the commotion on the floor that night, but I'm glad to have known nothing about the guy bleeding and pissing there. I definitely remember that crazy moon circle in the clouds outside after the show - I've not seen one that clear ever since.
Overall a wildly high night; lots of unusually high-grade fun to be found and Hampton was a long-standing dead-friendly venue, IMO.
I can take the 1st set or leave it, but it's still one of my all-time favorite 2nd sets - I can listen to it and be right back there in the audience again. I agree that it loses coherence toward the end, but I always attributed that to how far off the deep end the space segment went...

After the show a perfect circle directly above the coliseum through the clouds. Solid cloud coverage everywhere else led to comments about "Spaceship Hampton" going orbital.Musta been hot sweaty steam.Rating is for fun factor not audio quality.Does anyone remember that?

Mickey leaving his drum set with the talking drum and standing next to Jerry during the Fire...sooo sweet! Also, was it this night or the next when that dude freaked out on the floor and had to be carried out. I was sitting there during the break and all of a sudden there was this commotion. I turned around and saw some huge dude taking a piss. Next there is this huge circle clearing out and I'm on the edge of it. This dude is rolling all over the place bleeding and freaking. Finally security dragged him out to a cheering crowd...weird.

I was there at this show and thought it was great. The show on the 14th gets more publicity then this show, unfortuneately.I think the 13th blew it away! The Scarlet>Fire is without a doubt one of the best versions ever.Comparable certainly to Spac from 6/18/83.Very trippy drums and space that flow into one of the best Wheels I've heard. Its about time this show gets the recognition it deserves!

It was an OK show, but I remember thinking it was great. It was the most tripping people at any show I ever saw. They kept the lights really low on the floor in between sets, and everyone was just hanging out, lying around, as if we were in my living room. Everyone tripping their faces off. First set was pretty good, Second set starts ok, but falls apart after the Scarlet->Fire. I never had, and never after been at as laid back a venue/show. Friday the 13th, but no full moon, so no Dark Star;)
