My first show! I enjoyed every part of it but remember being lost in wonderful thought during the jamming between Lazy Lightning and Supplication and coming
...
to the conclusion that I need to do this more and more! Uncle John's and Truckin are both fantastic, hell the show was stellar, speaking of stellar how bout that Stella Blue! The crowd is also very complimentary rather than a distraction as we added well to the mix!

Saw the two Philly shows previous to this and this night. No doubt this was the highlight of the 3 shows, tons of energy, great set list, some real magic,
...
and by the second set they had the sound just exactly perfect in the house. Only disappointment, I was sure they were going to squeeze in Bertha after Miracle, right into Good Lovin, and I felt a little gypped. Another picky deadhead!!

The only time Greatest Story ever led to Uncle John's Band. I'm still a little perplexed by Greatest Story as a set opener - it just seems to need a set-up
...
of some kind as it is a lot of energy to come roaring out of the gates with.

the sound is not quite a betty board, but slightly above average for the day - not as good as the quality of the alaska AUDs but very listenable for sure.
...
that lazy > supp is ridiculous!!! definitely a great show. hated this venue a decade later although the dead seemed more often than not to play rippers here.

Subject: What about the sound quality for a 1980?
Subject: What about the sound quality for a 1980?
This has to be among the first D5 recordings and Nak Shotguns either that or this is a Betty audience - No matter what it is sizzling... As much energy
...
as Rochester which everyone should listen to and is a day or two after this and not labled right (look around you will find it 9/2/80).
Great 14 min Lzy light>Supp> 7 min Deal which has everyone on their feet. Althea is a little weak especially from 1980 when they were crushing it. Alabama>Promised they opened alot of shows with that year and got folks thumping - Listening to UJB right now which is really sweet and Phil gets a nod for beautiful harmonics - The Comes a time and the jam into Truckin is wonderful......Listen to the crowd cheer and sing along - One of the more active of any I have heard on this entire site+ Do not skip over drums which has hints of Hamza al Din and is really trippy. Other one is short but very solid.
This show is a rare combination of spacey + trippy and right when you start burning your smokes down to the filter starts kicking ass all over again.

I've really been enjoying the 2nd and 4th lately, and just HAD to find out what all the fuss was over this Landover, Maryland show. Well, lemme tell ya,
...
the 2nd and 4th have nothing on this baby. The Boyz start out strong and just keep on goin'. The AUD is gorgeous. Thank you Mr. Wise for being the firstest with the mostest...again!I'll give this night the ol' lilrichwhiteboy Five Star, X Factor seal of approval. BWT, thanks for the little tidbit about Naked Hippie, Mr.'78. I'll do a Mr. Natural cover for the internet, one of these days, from that info. :-)

Listen to the encore and note that while we have the sweet singing of Jerry, there is no lead guitar. Bobby does his best by trilling his chords, but
...
Jerry's guitar is silent.
Why?
The same old story. While the boys were making their way back onto the stage for the encore, Naked Hippy made a dramatic, yet unrehearsed entrance from stage right. Half a dozen goons from the security squad swarmed and tackled our friend, and in the process pulled Jer's plug.
Now would be a good time to remind ourselves, as this summer's concert season gets going, that it's fine and wonderful to take your clothes off, but for the love of god stay the hell off the stage.
Great show otherwise.
Hey Naked Hippy, I know you're out there.
