I am listening to every 1994 show in order, mining for gold.
Getting into some of the darker days of mid-90s touring here. Lots of bad issues at this ... venue. A good friend of mine grew up in St. Louis and recommends that people never to go there. I'll take his word for it. The Dead played some great shows here in the 70s, but by '94, fans at shows became a major target for Uncle Sam. Performance wise, the last night in Chicago was pretty lackluster, but the setlist and length of this show look promising. Longest Estimated! I will be splitting my review between this AUD for the first set and the SBD for the second.
Set 1 Highlights: Jack Straw, Rooster!, Queen Jane. Easy Answers. Fine Deal. Jerry wasn't really into this first set though. Onto the SBD for Set 2.

I was the dirty kid that was shot thru the face before the Monday show there in St Luis. Spent a few days in the ICU and jumped back on tour with bullet
...
still in my jawbone. No intention to ever smell that city again. Jacked up by the cops in the morning for camping, car was tossed. Pulled over again an hour later to be searched again. Then almost murdered after lunch. Great place. Never caught either show, thanks for the upload.

I was at this run of shows and as being a native at of St. Louis at the time (I basically lived right across from the "farm") I didn't see anything which
...
made anyone not feel welcome in our city.
For my 10th birthday (1985) I got a Grateful Dead album from my aunt who lived in the Bay Area. As I aquired more and more albums at a young age I fell in love with the music. As time went on and I started to learn more about The Dead and their history and the subculture, obviously attending my first concert was a rather eye opening experience. All of the shows I saw were in the 90's so I don't really have any other time to guage them by quality wise, but looking back now one major observation sticks out in my head. From 1990 to 1995 the audience went from being there more for the music and friendships to being more of a junkie, scam artist scene.
To me it seems like the last few years the Heads that I knew were all getting into darker and darker things and were all getting into trouble with the law. Its no suprise to me that during this period Jerry's health and frame of mind went steadily downhill. I don't know if its a coincidence or not.........
As far as archive.org......what a fantistic resource, we can go back in time and relive all these old concerts, listen to ones we missed. I'm not a music critic, don't play and instrument, can't sing a lick, but I can say I've never seen or heard a bad Dead show.....maybe some aren't as good as others but in my mind there are always good points in every show. Just my opinion.....thanks for letting me ramble.

This was a really good show to see. It was the one of the smallest outdoor venues you could see the Dead play at in the midwest, so it was nice for the
...
people from that area. A nice change from Soldier Field. The people in St. Louis were incredibly friendly as well. Good vibe overall. It a shame about the Riverport debacle the year after.

Both these riverport shows are great sounding AUDs. Are these matrixes or just that good?
The setlist catches the eye, but the performance is sub-par, ... feels '95-ish.

This show, although pretty average, is better than I remember it having been. Jerry actually remembers the lyrics to FOTD and Lazy River Road almost perfectly,
...
and even annunciates the words to boot.
This is the 4 year anniversary of the untimely passing of Mr. Brent Mydland. RIP

Subject: Great Show, Long Overdue!!!
This was my first Dead show...July of 1994...I had alot of Dead CD's etc and really should have seen them much sooner but for what ever reason this was
...
my first...
The show turned out to be electric from start to finish...I remember talking with the guy right behind me on the lawn. He was from Omaha, Nebraska and had seen over 100 shows...When 'The Wheel' began he fessed up that he owned a bar in Omaha called, you guessed it, "The Wheel". Needless to say he was blown away by the set list!!! And me, at my first show, I thought they were all going to be like this...
I have heard a shortened version of the second night as a Grateful Dead Hour. That was good but left me wanting a full version of the first night...
From what I understand the Dead had not played in the St. Louis area for more than 15 years, if not more. So this show was long overdue and it sure was incredible! Give this one a listen, I bet you'll agree this was a rockin night!!!
