The fun set list lives up to its name. No depth though
1st Set: 'Strange(r)' "tunings" are evident from the onset. It's quite the bouncy version despite a horrifying audio glitch during the first verse. "Franklin's"
...
is quite well-expressed with particular pronounced nuances between the verses and the choruses... (Hey, it's inherent to the song, but sometimes there's so little differentiation) "Walkin" grooves a lot more than my previous thought just did. "FOTD" is heartfelt and patiently told. "Tons" is well-intentioned but never achieved liftoff for me. "Desolation" has a nice musical subtlety that's destroyed by Bobby's impassioned singing. Yea, felt "Big" coming...Well, the backbeat remains strong...kinda iffy on this one. They're botching lyrics and don't seem particularly inspired besides Jerry having fun with the melody. Things brighten considerably around the 4:00 minute mark, with an 'Around' like dedication to the thrust. Brent's silly flurry provides Bobby to skewer "Did you hear what I just Heard?" during the opening moments of "Music." Definitely a good-times set of music. Nothing out of sight, but definitely appealing. (Turn down Bobby's jarring chords 6:45_>) 2nd Set: Wow, they're really filling my smiley vibe with these choices tonight? ("Bertha")More boogieying with "Cumberland" "Playin" really never gets a fair shake. They've been playing well all night, why not take an adventure and stretch 'Playin' longer than 7 1/2 minutes. "UJB" is sadly standard...no real inspiration to be found. Althouygh it's admirable they're doing a "Playin->UJB->Playin Jam" combo, it just doesn;t come close to the areas scoped out on DP 24. Oh wait, isn;t there a "Morning" in the middle of that jam? Anyways, it's all a tad underwhelming. "Drums" passes without mention, whereas there's a nice melding between guitar and drums during "Space" (4's) "Miracle" is decent while "Fantasy" is standard despite some ugly feedback from some of Jerry's soloing. "Around" is surprisingly colorful due to Brent's well-placed Hammond additions. Awwww...yea! I'm sure by now over half of the crowd knows what's up with 'Lovin' this fall. It's enthusiastically performed and makes you wonder why they didn't do this annually; insert an rock n'roll oldie but goodie in the middle of a closing tune. First "US" in a while; and it sounds nice. 3 1/4 for being a darn good time

Best I Can Remember
Looking back nearly 18 years later, this show still gives me goosebumps. The energy level from the second set was something that I cannot express in writing.
...
Jerry was moving and dancing for most of the show and broke into a big grin during La Bamba. The recording is a great account from this special night and we should all be thankful of it's existence. I also remember the big group circle dance during Cumberland Blues.

around the concourse, it was wonderful mayhem. The second set is just beautiful. Well played and high energy throughout. The static with Bob's mic only lasts the first minute, and other than that, the first set is good. The Big RxR>Music at the end is sweet, but get this for set 2. Bertha>Cumberland>Playin>UJB is fantastic!! i can still remember doing some kind of squaredance during Cumberland, and the UJB is a top 5 performance. By the time the Good Lovin>La Bamba rolled through I was spent! I remember everyone had steam coming off them as we headed out into the real world once more...
