I am on an amazing journey
I am listening to all 1994 shows in order, mining for gold.
The final night of the Blockbuster run. This had a bit more energy than the previous two shows, and the setlist is very appealing. Strong Playin>Eyes and other cuts. Very good singing again.

Bad SBD, just like the other currently available. While some levels are very low, others are way too high. A bass drum registers as a hot "click", throughout.

Jerry showed up at times for Healy's last show
I have fond memories of this run as a great adventure. I hopped on a plane by myself from the East Coast to attend all three nights, met interesting characters and had a blast.
I don't know if Healy knew he was about to be fired and this would be his last show at the board, but it was obvious from my spot at the front of the lawn that he had turned Jerry up really loud in the mix (something that isn't obvious on this SBD). Everyone around me noticed the same thing- Jerry was LOUD!
The H>S>F opener isn't especially long, but heats up nicely during a bright and bouncy Franklin's where Jerry's voice and playing both sound wonderful.
Spoonful was rare as a stand-alone first set song, typically relegated to a post-Truckin jam so it was delightful to hear it in this slot. Jerry's soloing again is excellent.
More inspired playing on Masterpiece, while the rest of the set is rather average.
The opening second set tandem wasn't especially uplifting- I can't think of a worse placement for Lazy River Road.
Playing is really short, and moves too-quickly into an fast-paced Eyes, another rare combination for 90s dead.
Post drums is pleasant but not especially inspiring. Last Time was getting heavy play at that time and is highly ordinary. Attics is poignant and in-synch, while Good Lovin and Liberty are standard for the era

Zona trip March 94'
Wow I can't believe I found this show! My only attempt to see Jerry play was in 94. We set out from Colorado when I was 19 and got pulled over in Utah on Friday night, spent the night in jail but bonded out the next day and made it to Phoenix by night fall weary and broke. The next day Sunday we found everybody in this massive parking lot surrounded by a fence. It was like a free running society with naked people and lots of goodies inside ---free of the man until we left for the final of three shows that Sunday---- and on my way out I was handed this concert poster for the show (which I still have)! I remmember waiting for hours in traffic to park and get in but after all we went thru and with little money we agreed to hightail back home without making it in for the show. We found out later that people stormed the gates and we could have possibly made it in but.....great trip and fond memories anyway----so happy to finally hear the show that eluded me all these years. Thanks
archive.org. Show sounds terrific too.

what can I say? it's 1994!
A blazing Help>Slip>Frank got my hopes up for this show, but sure enough the lack of energy that is ever-present in 1994 strikes again. Not an awful show, just not much to write home about, except the H>S>F. It just slows down considerably from there.
Second set has a nice eyes>drums and a decent Attics, but again, nothing out of this world.
Sound is good. The show itself is not bad for 1994, but with so much other stuff out there, don't bother spending too much time on this one.

The Help Slip Franklins is very hot indeed. Rest of 1st is decent, although the Let it Grow stumbles a bit..
2nd- Good playing and sound. I like the Lazy>Playin..and the Eyes is light and easy on the ears. The best part of the set is the strong Wheel> Last Time> Attics. Very well done.
Sound is very good. Get it.

A days drive down from Colorado -- went w/ a great guy -- Salty Dawg -- thanks, amigo! A grateful ride itwas.
Definitely lost a worthless job b/c of this show -- if I'm lame I'll say this trip cost me a girlfriend, too -- but that was definitely my fault...not the bands ;-)
Was it worth it?? Eeeh, well -- not a super spectacular show, and we spent way too much quan gettin there...
but now...kicking back in 2006 - do I remember the $$$ gettting there -- the job or the girl? (well, the girl, yeah)
Or was it about seeing Jerr in his fatblack T -- sweatin like the rest of us -- with his rug under his feet - in front of Mickey and Bill -- looking out briefly here and there with that, over-the top-of-his-glasses look of...Jerryful knowledge, joy scorn and powerskill...
-- jamming in that Tanglewood-like barn thing that was Desert Sky...we pitched tent vince side on the floor -bout 25 rows back
Twas another solid jerry-led effort: Jack aRow -- Attics..and that Franklins...hmmm -- I really dig Rob Hunter and like both their versions of Liberty... it really did get more better each time they played it.
okay, yes...it was worth it. Even when the tunes rushed, when the Boyz were tired...uninspired,
they were, are and always will be the shizzle.
We crashed w/ some crazies in Tempe. They intro'd us to many episodes of the Beev and Butthead shows...funny stuff.
Went biking in one of those weird mountain-rock-hill ranges that was somewhere in that ridiculously hot and wasteful sprawl of the PhoenixArizona. Fun times.
SB copy here sounds fat (so do the Boyz, actually -- GoshDarn, yo!! Jerry's Franklins goes off!).
At the time, though, cash poor in Zona...we were not super overpowered - whatever, the love and tunes WERE needed. Remeber, even in 94 there was always another show to goto.
It's now almost 11 years since Chicago. And what, 15 since Uncle Bill's helicopter hit the gates of st peter?
Wow

Good Show. Great sound.
Several digi dropouts during Let It Grow. Ouch!
Second set is pretty hum-drum IMHO. Highlight is probably the Attics.

Desert Sky torn down?
Dude,
Just a little bit of clarification for the mis informed individual. First, Lay off the bud. Steve Nick's dad built Compton Terrace (10 minutes from my house) in which the boys had a couple successful runs, the last of which was dec. 92 right before the Denver shows which were so good. Furthermore, Healy left the band after summer 93. The desert sky shows were noticeably different sounding without Healy.

Hey stagehand
Desert Sky was not demolished, it still stands as Cricket Pavilion. This show strted at
5:00 pm, nice cool sunny day, Help Slip Frank to start, nice mellow show after the gate crashers (actually fence climbers) of the night before. Sound on this recording is good, touch flat maybe but well worth it! Spring Training Tour '94!

Phoenix Desert Sky
Desert Sky was demolished soon after this series of shows. It was originally built for Stevie Nix, by her dad, so she'd have a place to perform when she was home. This was a set of shows performed outside in the dead of winter, because winter in Phoenix is much, much different than winter where the rest of us live. I was at this series of shows, and they were marvelous. Oh, the nitpickers can bitch about a few missed notes, or that this was Dan Healey's last shows, but no matter what, the music never stopped. I didn't mind about sound quality, I was up front and too stoned to care.

Bass drum of left channel problem
The bass drum is annoying and can ruin the balleds like stella...i don't know what Mickey was thinking for this tour(it had to have been him!) The Stella is what this run is all about. I asked Vince a couple years ago if he remembered the Stella in Phoenix (where his family lives) and his face lit up as said "Yes!"
