So I decided to Copp a feel per Cringle's suggestion:) The macro takeaway is the boyz put on a nice show! For '92, it's one of the year's best for sure.

The recording quality is amazing - I actually listened to the 30 Trips release tonight and I give it the nod. The show excells all the way through space. Standing On The Moon and Lovelight are the Heady Buzz Kills but everything else is quality this late in the band's tenure. Hearing Lovelight I couldn't help to think the band should never have brought it back post Pig. But hey, they did and I'm sure some of the younger generations in the audience dug it. First set really cooks along nicely and every song is more than passable. Jerry's engaged along with the rest of the band. Do I wish they didn't have two keyboard players these latter years, you betcha but that's because Vince shouldn't have gotten the job to begin with. US Blues ends the show on a nice note. I will definitely relisten to this night every so often.

walking distance to Copps Coliseum, my buddy and I went to see the invasion of deadheads camped out EVERYWHERE downtown...it was Awesome, I bought my first hit of acid and about 150 people stormed the doors and rushed in, my friend and I Included! I gotta say, I've NEVER felt or seen anything like it again! IT WAS PEACEFUL, and the music was AMAZING, the people even better, I had never even listened to the Greatful Dead before then, I've been a fan ever since!
Anyway, my apologies for writing you a book here.

I'm a canadian boy and this was my 17th show and my mothers 1st. Wow what a show awesome second set and the Dead never played any good shows in the 90s.

I agree that this is the 2nd best show of 92 (Unfortunatly, there are not too many great ones to pick from). Deer Creek 1st night ruled (best first set

in the post Brent 90's IMO). However, this first set at Hamilton also rocks. There are 3 Jerry Tunes, not 2 (hot Althea, BEW and a killer Birdsong) also Jerry sings a verse in Maggie's (Band tune).
As the band came out for the 2nd set I said to myself Shakedown, Mansmart, Darkstar and then watched it unfold. I had never really looked beyond the next song before and felt more connected to the band than ever before. This was a truely special night for me and all us Canadians.
Phil is not thin on this SBD either. He is stomping throughout and the bass drum does not overpower when you boost the bass like some soundboards. This one is worth listening to.

ÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ for sure, and probably makes the top three. Hamilton was a great place to see a show! The police in Hamilton were the coolest of anywhere IÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂve been. What other police for would allow you to stick stickers on the police as they were cruising around shakedown street on their bikes!
It was dam cold though! We saved some on iceÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂ but thatÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂÃÂs about it. The town even allowed people to camp for free on a local golf course. Where else does that happen? Even had bathroom facilities open.
The actual show was phenomenal. The stars were defiantly aligned for the Spring equinox!

I could go to a show and walk there. I was selling veggie pasta pitas for a buck and 50 cent cokes. if anyone remembers these let me know. they were my claim to fame. what a blast. i met lots new friends and hooked up with some long lost. The shows were fun. The shows were not the best but, what can you say, it was the dead, and that was all that mattered. when you get your ticket, it's a personal invitation by the boys to come and hang out with them. good or bad. all that mattered was that we were there as their guests. drop me a line and say hi. got some good stories? peace

This was my first show....always holds a special place.
Had a great time and had to be told, at the time, how lucky I was to get a Shakedown and Dark ... Star(even if one halved) in a first show. Wish I would have been able to stay for the next night, but alas......
Used to only have second set on cassette back in the day....so glad to get it all now.

there are some very nice gems on this night...definetley NOT the Copps show of 1990, which were magical..these are still pretty awesome...

reading all these reviews and listening to this and other shows of this era make me realize how much I miss Brent. The ultra-cheeze of Vince's $19.95
...
casio and the straightforwardness of Bruce's piano lines really make me miss Brent's heavy hammond funk...esp when the rest of the band is cranking it out. Listen to the unimaginitive & repetitive crap in the Bucket jam ..ewww...same thing w Althea....over and over same tedious patterns. Bruce is ok...except when he busted out that brutal squeezebox ...

First, y2j, it was NOT NOT NOT Bruce Hornsby at this show. It was Vince Welnick, and he played very well.
Second, my story:
Thursday afternoon, the 19th ... of March, I was hanging at my apartment and got a call from my friend Neil. He explained that he had 4 tix for both shows, and would I like to go?
Gee, let's see, hell yeah!!!
So we go to Hamilton, meet up with two of our friends there, and proceed to the coliseum. The cops were on horseback, and had 6" diameter yellow happy face buttons over their badges...
No, I wasn't seeing things, we didn't drop until Sat.! We all were amazed, and said so the the cops, and they explained how they LOVED it when the Dead came to town, such a peaceful, and happy crowd, etc...
Fri. was a great show, got to see a lot of my fav songs live (in person) before Garcia passed on.
Saturday night was PHENOMENAL!!!!!
We ate a bunch of acid, and after the show, we drove to Utica, NY through a blizzard while coming down,(OMFG! the tires were bald!!! White knuckle driving) to meet a friend there. We picked up what we came for, partied some more, and then made it back to MA and I to RI.
Talk about a great weekend!
Sound quality on these two nights is very clean, of course, and Jerry actually sounds good here, after his stroke. I consider myself lucky to have caught these shows, with everyone sounding good.
This 2 show venue is one to have.

the jam preceeding the final verse. Anyone who was at this show is sure to remember Bruce bringing Promised Land to a scorching close with all ten fingers and the heal of his right shoe.

listened to this show so many times I can sing every single solo... Jerry's solo in Shakedown is ridiculously good. The Dark Star is jazzy/spacy and the Other One rocks.
If you haven't heard this, grab it now. Play the Shakedown loud and I promise you'll be blown away.
This SBD is very nice, but I too would love to hear a great quality AUD from this night.

to have the boys in our backyard for a change. These were the last Canadian shows ever played. Had Jerry held out a little longer, the boys were scheduled to play the Sky Dome in Toronto for Fall Tour 1995. I have these shows on video, so it's finally nice to have a SBD audio copy I can now play when I watch it over and over and over again! I remember it taking us a lot longer to get home after the show!!!!

translates the level of energy in the coliseum that night. The audience noise after women and as Jerry hits the first few notes of darkstar is amazing!!! An incredible show, the birdsong is out of this world and the entire second set is on fire. Without question one of the hottest shows of the 90's!!

I won't forget this trip... My first time north of the border and my friend's crappy Peugot (is that how it's spelled?) broke down at the actual border

near Buffalo on our way from New Paltz(SUNY). All seven of us jammed into our other vehicle and followed the tow truck to some backwoods mechanic. But I finally got into this one due to the kindness of a Canadian couple who sold me a ticket for face value ten minutes before showtime. They told me to have a good show and tossed me a couple of shots of brandy to numb out the cold. I obliged with some high quality bits of paper for them and ran in. I liked this show better than the others in Hamilton this run. The Shakedown is HOT and I recall the SOTM as one of my all time favorites. Sound quaility is supurb as well. Other Info Copps was attached to a shopping mall and heads weretrying to navigate the maze of elevators and hallways in an attempt to find a free way in... The cops at Copps were some of the nicest I've ever encountered at a show. I saw artwork in the police cruisers parked in front of the venue and one even had some kind of glowing skull sculpture on the dashboard. On the second night I was standing somewhere near the colleseum before the show and was approached by a cop. I thought for sure he'd say "MOVE ALONG!!!!" or something worse. Nope... He blew my mind and said "Hey hows it going... Did you see last night's show? I thought it was great.. How about you AY?" It was a big difference from having angry NYPD thugs on horseback try to kill you for standing in the wrong place at the wrong time at MSG.

I trucked on up to Canada for this show, and was not disappointed. As they drew a spellbinding, fantastic Birdsong to a close, I said to my buddy, "they're

going to play a dark star in the second set." Sure enough - Jerry only sings the first verse, but they actually come out of the depths to play the melody for the second verse. Don't know that I've heard that anywhere else. Also, Shakedown was long and funky, and SOTM was great.
This show is definitely worth the disc space.
