I lived in CT at the time and couldn't find my way all the way out to Indiana in time for tour. I got on the bus at Buckeye lake and saw the rest. Yes
...
there were really some good shows mixed in on that tour but l saw this set list several days later and I just knew I missed a special show. Great to finally listen to it. But you Jack Straw lovers have not lived until listening to 7/02/1988 Oxford, Maine. Phil drops enormous BASS BOMBS and left everyone slackjawed...my fav ever

Subject: 48 kHz DAT source?
Hi GD folks, I wish everyone had a great copy of this show. The soundboard that I had originally on DAT was at 32 kHz which was a resolution setting
...
for speech. That explains why there is no real high end on the soundboard sources. Or maybe, Healy just got it wrong that night. However, there hasn't been a really good audience source due to the PA sound was grainy and muffled. Apart from all that , the show itself is a good summer 91 show. I attended the show and later wound up on the wrong end of the law later that night.. trust me, stay in a hotel , not a state park.

Estimated shook the hills with a strange granduer. This Prophet approaches like some shambling traveler on the road, a refugee from sights beyond your

horizons. He walks with you and tells you things as if each is a performative utterance like let there be light. Then he wanders off, his empathy disarming. He’s concerned about your state of mind, about you worrying about him, as if afraid what impact his company will have.

Maybe not THE best Jack Straw ever (or of that tour), but Jerry sounds like he is about to jump out of his jeans. IMPASSIONED to say the least. Killer

performance all around. I'd have loved to have been on the bus during this exciting time.
I second the nod to the 6/20/80 Jack Straw and the whole show for that matter.

of Phil. The poor guy, we didn't let up on him all night long clamoring for him to sing something. When they finally came out for the encore, we continued our hollerin', and this time, Phil looked directly at us and bowed a bit, as if to say, ' okay okay, wow you guys are persistent/pains in the ass.' Anyway, it was a great end to a fantastic show which was most definitely foreshadowing of things to come.
I haven't listened to this recording, but can't imagine a DSBD not working out for you. Strongly played throughout.

nice sound - brr blues shines here. two piano players works here, as Jerry is still sharp and not yet ready to be diluted into the backround of the sound.
And ... for best Jack Staw - Spectrum, Philadelphia, 1980. (not the best sound, maybe someday)
Wicked intense, coked up Jack Straw. So fast and ON! Listen to Jerry. "Jack Straw from Wichita cut his buddy down," Gives me a shivver.
Not the best sound. I've never understood why the great recordings of 77 et al couldn't be sustained. It's not like the technology and know how of 77 was lost. Not lack of technology - lack of effort with staff, lack of something? Whatever. Still a hot show

The opening Jack Straw rips.
TLEO is deep in the pocket.
Wang Dang Doodle has 'PARTY' all over it.
Row Jimmy shines like all I've heard of this song ... from '91.
BT Wind slips under the radar.
Big Railroad Blues blazes as the solo spots are tossed back and forth between band members with elegant ease.
Cassidy unbelievably turns it up another couple notches, this performance is string of Blackcat firecrackers going off in a already explosive first set.
Might As Well rounds off the set with super-charged and extended rounds of 'Might As Well' shouts like the band just doesn't want to leave the stage.
Awesome, amazing, spectacular first set!! Cross my heart, hope to die, stick a thousand needles in my eye! Word.
A crowded China>Rider opens the second set. You can blame Vince for this, I did. Besides that the performance is fine with impassioned vocals from Bobby and Jerry.
Estimated clicks from the start all the way to the finish. Terrific explorations from Jerry with his guitar tone and attack.
UJB - harmonies are rough but the playing is great.
Drums>Space - The Grateful Dead at their best.
Wheel - again, rough harmonies,
Watchtower - Jerry smokes, guitar blazing, excellent.
Stella Blue - awesome.
Lovelight - cheesy and tons of fun!
Box of Rain - go Phil! Dude can sing, oh yeah!
