Really not too impressed.
The recording is fine. Could be a little louder.
Hats of to the people that saw some good dead shows back in the day, nothing can take away from your experiences at these shows.
Just from a listen, this sounds like a low energy night to me. Yeah Good Times>Stranger opener starts off strong. Loser as others have mentioned is hot. After that it seriously goes downhill. So many better shows from March and April 93' than this one.
I guess they are going to release this show within the year as part of the new "Dave's Picks" series on
Dead.net. With all due respect, Both the Dean Smith Center shows from the 23rd and 24th, Cap Center on the 17th, and Nassau April 4th are all MUCH stronger shows than this one. Wonder what they see in it?
Box of Rain nearly put me to sleep. Same with BTW, Lazy River Road. All the balads are underplayed. Sorry guys, everyone deserves an off night.

The Last Stand!
I do agree with one of the previous posters claiming that 3-24-90 was the best Loser, but this one was surely 2nd best as far as guitar. There were not many shows that stood out to me just based on Jerry being on fire(guitar wise) and the band followed. For the poster that claimed that the Stranger was average . . .the leads in that Stranger were by far the best I have ever heard(anytime time Jerry kicks in the wah with overdrive is just the best) . . .so for a guitar player 3-38-93 (all of it) and continued on through this first set . . .were the last great sets for the exception of 9-16-93. . . .and I bet the band would agree. The band never sounded like they did at this run. And to conclude, the first night was NOT the best, the second night was by far. Peace out!

For Those who love the Loser
It's good....
but have you heard 3.24.90? Check out an audience source of that solo. Will create an earthquake in your soul!

first set = 3 stars, second set = 1.5 stars
Jerry showed up tonight during the first set...and then faded out in the second. His voice is awful, as it typically was for the Dead shows of this time (funny, though, that it sounded a lot better during the JGB shows). The first set hints at the Dead's brilliance, with an electric stranger and a decent loser. However, it tails off in the second set, when everybody seems very tired. Jerry sounds half dead, and Bobby sounds like he's about to drop off and go to sleep at any moment. He's Gone is filled with some timing errors.
As said in the title, the first set is worth three stars and the second 1.5. That makes for a 2-star show. Avoid the second set unless you are a completist.

leads of fire
an aud sbd matrix of this show would do it so much justice. the sbd is clean and crisp but lacks the spatial quality present in the aud. plus, Jerry is a bit more up front on the aud than on the sbd. as previous reviewer touched on, it is amazing to hear 'the fifth beatle' or '12th man' so to speak-us-the vibe of the audience is edgy, intense high-energy, and it would be incredible to hear blended in with the sbd. overall, i thought the performance was above average. Jer's leads on Loser and Wharf Rat are smokin. the boys were on and gave a fine performance all around.

Stranger is good, Loser is average. Second set is WAY average, both in song choice and musicianship. The First night (3/27/93) here was the highlight by leaps and bounds. To each his own though.

Great first set
I had a blast at these Albany shows. The last night featured one of the best first sets of the year. I don't know what happened in set 2, but the energy completely evaporated.

My last show, and a good one.
This was the last time I saw the Dead, and I'm glad I went out in style. Jerry was cleaned up and ready to rock. The first set jumped and the second was pretty damn satisfying too. This Loser has the best Jerry solos I have ever heard. Listen to the audience version and you can hear how whipped up everybody gets. Everytime I do I get goosebumps.

Sizzling first set!
This was one of those rare shows where the first set outshone the second set. Stranger, Rooster and Loser are high energy, rocking and tight as a nail-rare for 1993 Dead. The second set was a lot of fun, with the rain theme in honor of the rainy weekend, but didn't quite match the levels of the first set. Though this show tends to get lost in the shuffle of a strong run, the first set is definitely worth a listen.
