find the best versions of grateful dead songs
Grateful Dead April 8, 1972
Wembley Empire Pool London, | Listen on archive
The goodness for real. Euro '72s finest
Coming out of Dark Star > Sugar Magnolia, Jerry is in pure attack mode. Crazy energy.
24Black Throated Wind
Whoaaaaa this into sitting on top of the world rules!
They could actually hit the high notes in '72, and the jams? Goodness gracious--this one just rips a hole in the space/time continuum!
43One More Saturday Night
Jer w/doublebends, then a series of doublestop slides. Bobby wails chords and goes hoarse at the end of the 1st stellar show of Europe72 run.
Yet another great '72 version.
11Brown Eyed Women
One of the best from the Europe '72 tour.
76Looks Like Rain
Stunning Europe '72 version.
Fierce performance, hard driving ripper.
18Hurts Me Too
Must listen and my favorite version.
34Playin' In The Band
Something happens to Playing' in Europe. Check 'em out, one by one and watch it grow. This one is the bomb. Outrageous shredding.
Stop everything you're doing and listen to this now. No really, do it. Now.
6Me and My Uncle
Not the tightest ending, but Jerry is all over this one.
Not the best from E72, but the transitions out of DS and into Caution are unbelievably tight. Billy tears it up on this one.
I can't believe I get to submit this. Excellent start to this epic night. Jer throws in cool riffs as he sings and then just nails the last jam.
This show has such great flow and energy and just keeps it going after a tasty Bertha, MaMU.
Classic early deal! Just such a great show that everything is golden. Everyone should throw this E72 show in if its been awhile.
14Mind Left Body Jam
Listed as a Dark Star, but the last 4 minutes of this are solidly similar to a Mind Left Body, kinda similar groove. You'll love this one!
9Next Time You See Me
Everyone rips this one up!
6Beat it on Down The Line
Not as epic as the night before, but continues this high energy set!
They killed this song all tour! Just continues the energy of this fine Set!
26Big Railroad Blues
This second set is just magic as they open with a smokin' Truckin and then continue with this hot Big Railroad!
Unreal this hasn't been submitted yet. The version from Steppin Out. Like Garcia is reading off sheet music for the solos. Outstanding version.
