I love this show. Nuff said.

This is my first show and what a show! I remember pulling into the parking lot with my friends we were all about 17. Scored hash and lsd, and headed into the concert. The energy and vibes were right on. The girl I was with and sitting next to me peed herself! I remember her saying "Are you seeing what I am seeing?" During the show I also felt like I could see what my friends were thinking about. Also my watch disappeared off my wrist, it was a magical first show and the first of many more throughout the early 90's. Glad I got to see a few shows when Brent was still playing.

Agree with the reviews. This tour opener wastes no time. Show is hot from the start. Don't know if they ever again sounded as good as they did - consistently - this tour. This tour rivals any in the dead's history. With good reason is it only the second tour (Europe 72) that's been released in its entirety. Songs from Jerry, Bobby, Brent to start, Black Muddy River to close. Just some beautiful music here. As some pointed out, first set surprisingly - arguably - better than second, but I love the 35min opening set 2 sequence of fingers->pitb->ujb->pitb. Yes, some abrupt transitions in the fourth quarter, but really can't complain with this one.

Usually it happens in the 2nd set. Not so on this night. They are hot right from the opener. Enjoy the epic Loose Lucy return.

Every song in the first set rocks and just seems to build off the last. They start out hot with Cold Rain and Snow, and the Mama Tried into Big River is awesome. When the crowd hears Loose Lucy, though, they absolutely lose it. Its great to hear. Row Jimmy is great also, I like how they echo the chorus a couple of times at the end. The second set is ok, but the transitions are abrupt. The first set is where its at.

Folks I need to know how to upload a cassette- or how to send what I have to Charlie Miller- I have a very low gen AUD of this set and I do not see this aud anywhere else. Crowd energy is sky high off the loose lucy debut in set 1.

Then Crazy starts things off in set 2- very good all through, then jerry pulls off one of those way down on the fret board bendy solos that blows the roof and your head off. PITB follows and is way above average- seques into its alter ego UJB but then an extended PITB jam follows UJB into drums- not a usual ploy, though not unheard off- but this is the real deal- I cannot get enough of Spring 90

Still love the the earliest Dead days but the late '80s - early '90s shows were the best of times for me.

very good show. Love the breakout and the second set is nice. No Hey jude mixes things up in set 2. Nice three night run. 3 1/2 warlocks for this gig.

These were about shows 10-12 for me going back to July 1987. Simply stated this Cap Centre stint was the best run of shows I ever witnessed of any band, anywhere, anytime. The weather was uncharacteristically warm in the high 70's and low 80's and the vibe inside was almost maniacally intense. The band, thankfully, was even more intense and even with the mercilessly high expectations of the fans, the band was just killin' and just blew away even the most critical Deadhead. Each night, the sound from the far side of the arena just a few rows off the floor was the best concert sound I've ever heard. It felt like you could stick out your tongue and lick it. After a very fortunate lifetime of seeing over 1,000 concerts of all stripes this run is at the peak of them all. One of my friends, reflecting on these three nights described them as "splatter". Oddly, I knew what he meant. Get 'em all and enjoy another fabulous peak (along with '69, '72, '74, '77, and '81) in the storied and legendary career of the greatest live act that ever played on the face of this here planet. Happy trails.

The next night 1990-03-15 was released as a Limited Edition "Tarrapin Station" release. It was Phil's 50th birthday. I'm surprised that it would not be available since it was only a limited release and I can't seem to find it in order to purchase. What the hell is GDM/GDP thinking. I want to spend my money on this. Bobby, if you read this please take note.

Very hot! It's not just Jer's show either they are all really involved.

3rd show overall, 1st at The Cap Centre, and what a night it was. 1st of a great 3 show run there started off with one of the best 1st sets of the 90s. Hot Cold Rain & Stranger to start. Return of (and a great version of) Loose Lucy is amazing, and topped off by a spectacular Let It Grow.

2nd set, while not as mind-blowing as the 1st, is still solid. I like the Crazy Fingers to start, a very good UJB, and a beautiful Black Peter are highlights.

I like the mix too, even though it's a SBD, you get more of the crowd than you do on most SBDs. A fun show overall, download and enjoy!

I was on the bus from Alpine '87 to the end, I will whole-heartedly agree with DeadtoTheCore that the spring 90 tour was the best I saw. Just awesome every night! We miss you dearly Jer'.

Great Show, 1st set is smokin'. 2nd set does not dissapoint. Brent Shines throught it all.

Wow what a show! I was listening to the show from
outside by one of the service doors. Ppl were climbing up on to the roof and getting in thru duct work. Till the mounted patrol came by and started beating ppl. Incredible year just before
Brent passed, never forget how good it was.

Great First Set. Second set is nothing special.

As everyone has said, LIG is the highlight, as well as Loose Lucy. Otherwise, so many better shows are available.

I had missed the Fall tour and had not seen them since the Alpine 89 shows. I was so excited for this show and the first set is my favorite ever - every performance incredible. The Stranger and Cold Rain and Snow are hot. Brent does an awesome Good Times Blues. Brent's piano playing in Big River is totally hot. Loose Lucy was such a great surprise. Row Jimmy was wonderful and Let It Grow is as good as everyone else says. It is a solid set of great performances! The second set is also good, but this first set has been spun hundreds of times over the last 14 years.

I was only on the bus from 85-95. I loved this band with all I had.
If there was a better run than this, save for Warlocks 89, in those 10 years, I am not aware of it.
This run had it all. Sound, bustouts, "steam locamotive" feel.

As for this night, it's just so well played. Loose Lucy,
Let it Grow-it's on Without a Net for a reason.
I could go on but you get the point.
The midi work is quite nice throughout.
Some hiss in between songs, but in the thick of it, all you here is the good stuff.

Another not so hidden gem from 1990.

Considering this is the first show of the 1990 East Coast run - it is indeed a fine outing for the boys. It certainly has not recieved the attention it deserves due to the other well-hyped shows of this tour. It is my heartfelt/honest opinion that the GD really hit their stride earlier in 1989 (Frost & Alpine) and they were overwhelmingly confident in nearly aspect. This version of 'Let It Grow' is definitely the one that appears on Without A Net.
IMHO - It is certainly one of the FINEST versions EVER PLAYED since its inception in 1974. The band is so ON - Brent is just tearing Sh*t up and feeding Garcia's furious leads while Phil runs in and out of is guitar-work with intricate execution. IMHO- There is really not one 'bad' show until the end of Summer 1990

Grateful Dead recorded live shows from fall 1989- May 1990 for a live album. John Cutler supervised the recording, I THINK it was analog reels at 24 or possibly 48 track.

I am CERTAIN that the Let It Grow which closes the first set here IS the version used on Without A Net, the live double-CD set released in 1990. This happens to have been the first show I saw the Dead perform, and the Let It Grow made a substantially strong positive impression upon me. Songs from Wake Of The Flood were often performed live, and here, the Row Jimmy followed by LIG was exquisite.

As for the Loose Lucy- Not that it failed to be a welcome surprise, but the rumor I had heard in the lot that day was that "The Dead soundchecked a tune from MARS HOTEL which has NEVER been performed live!" which would have meant Unbroken Chain or Pride of Cucamonga. . . so with UGLY RUMORS galore, the Loosely was a minor letdown for gullible newb's like me!

WOW...We on the East Coast just had just had the Warlocks Fall tour and the boys come back in the following spring and bust out this show...run...tour. What a start. Lucy was the high point but overall, great show, and solid shows each night. Yah we lost camping and vending and the scene was bursting from the seems, but the boys were peaking musically.

The three nights at the cap center in 90 were epic. the bust outs of loose lucy on the 14th, mock turtle jam on the 15th, and the black throated on the 16th were awesome. Definitly worth the download. Hell yeh I remeber the blue unis! They were the highlight of my warlocks show that fall before.

Hell yeah! The night before Phils 50th....I was lucky too be at all three of the cap centre shows...The 15th is definitely the highlight the crowd was sooooo juiced especially this night and the 15th...Loose Lucy still sends chills down my spine to this day...Tight tight tight the band was so tight...The 16th is laid back in comparison to the first two very high energy shows...Thanks Archive for bringing these shows back to me and spreading them to any who want to hear some serious magic!

This was a great show. As a high school kid I had never been to a Dead show and this night blew my mind. In the lot we got hands on some Blue Unicorns, anybody remember those? First time for that too :P

Anyways after that show many more followed in later years. The sound was always fantastic in the Cap Center. Nothing in the world like a Dead show!
