Grateful Dead Oct. 18, 1972
Fox Theater St. Louis, MO | Listen on archive
Last half of this jam is incredible. There is a point where Lesh completely takes over. From there on is stunning
Really dig this one, Jerry is especially hot coming out of the vocal reprise
44Playin' In The Band
Very tight jam from the year of Playin'. The ensemble mind at liquid speed defining the best of a great year. Don't know if it's "best" but it's damn
Nice, good vocals from both of the boys. Smooth clear solos. Fun.
9China Cat Sunflower -> I Know You Rider
Incomplete, but what remains is top-notch and essential.
Hot show closer
Part of the first Playin' sandwich. The transition back into Playin' is like the cops kicking your door in at 4 a.m. it is so sudden and surprising.
5Me and My Uncle
17Big Railroad Blues
Incredible energy; A+.
real cool bertha opener from a real cool show
love 'em all
6Beat it on Down The Line
headiness points for the botched intro
the guitars have a bit of crunch. real good sounding deal
4Feelin' Groovy Jam
Epic Dark Star>Dew in a playin sandwich.Lesh takes the lead..Rolls right into Mornin Dew.
8Brown Eyed Women
In spite of equipment stalls the set really takes off here. Great Miller mix showcases Bobby in the left channel. Beautiful version.
High energy, and remarkable that they could pull it off after an hour of continuous jamming. Great show all round.
Galloping version from an outstanding show, complete with Yellow Rose of Texas tuning
6Don't Ease Me In
Jerry doesn’t stop jammin the whole time
This whole show is tight and jammed out. While the playin' sandwich gets most of the attention the first set is amazing, and this is no exception!
Starts with some Buddy Rich-style hi-hat play…sounds like he’s doing that thing Buddy would do playing the bottom hat with his left hand fingers!
