a special time & show
fall 73 I started forestry school at Syracuse and this show kicked off the first semester.....a special time for a 20 yr old at a critical juncture....and

wake of the flood tunes were a portal to a new beginning... especially the weather report suite....listen to the thunder shout....and this show had it with horns.... experimental and unorthodox yet highly effective.. a special show for a special time....

I was not aware that they ever played this live. Fun, if somewhat inconsequential tune. Cool to hear Keith sing.Great lyrics. Hunter I'm guessing.

Horns
The Horns ruin it for me. They make the Dead sound like a late night talk show house band. Everything here without horns is killer. Except the guitars

could be louder. For the life of me I can't understand why they continued to play LLR year after year. It is trite and lame. I almost always skip over it but I didn't this time. I wish I had.

nice little gem
Good sound quality. Interesting LLR: sounds like a theramin is being played during the jam. Odd but kind of cool.

El Paso?
Both archive.org and setlists.net say that this show did not have El Paso, yet it's part of the concert here. Which is correct?

The horn player is Martin Fierro. Martin played in Doug Sahm's band, who opened this show. Martin played with the Dead on the Wake of the Flood LP, and

also played with Jerry's band at the time with Merle Saunders (Legion of Mary?)
