Well without much ado Minglewood revamped returns and it short and sweet and the fair maidens do weep. "Preacher man called me a sinner His little girl

called me a saint" Pretty Looks Like Rain . (I prefer this to the other Soundboard recording although they both seem pretty crisp. My volume levels are low on both but this is the better of the two. Not complaining just listening a little more intently. i would really like to crank this to 11.) Adding Donna to this tune is really clicking here. Listen to Garcia playing his guitar on Row Jimmy! Lazy Lightning-another sweet version, Garcia singing backing vocals to start then mostly a Weir /DJG fest. Good involved Supplication jam.. "Dizzy ain't the word , for the way you are making me feel" DEAL- song is so different when not a set closer. Still an all out dance tune.. Promised- (pretty much expected either to start or end a 1st set) but wait after two solid dance tunes a set break and here comes....Sugaree to open Set 2 Samson-They just keep firing up Samson and it gets more and more intense. Wow, the intro to HELP ON THE WAY is just so freakin' cool. Great focus/condensed Slipknot Hear Jerry bending those strings during Franklin's. I am with 'myhungryhippo' this is ******stars The Roll Away the Dew --is so fine. The jam in Dancin is really sweet. I think this 76 version takes awhile to really grab me but they use it to explore big time.. Sound is so good on this recording with subtle shifts and counterpoints. It seems to me Phil really has the most adjusting with Mickey coming back. In this jam i really hear Lesh steering the Dead's sound in a subtler but still very profound way Wharf Rat-nice how they are so easy into this, mellow and laid back. A true exploratory ballad. i am dying to get to the drum transition into the Wheel but loving Garcia's vocals. "I got some time to hear his story" Garcia bending notes.. "Name is August West" More then my Maker though HE is no friend of mine-- MORE BLUES THAN THAT? Half of my life, spent doing time for some other f@ckers crime YEAH, THE BLUES! Oh, How Donna comes in there with the backing vocals. Keith with the piano "I'll get up and fly away.." from the deepest Blues TO THE MOST HOPEFUL HIGH!! The key-"I Know the life i am living is no good" Jesus came to save the poor in spirit. The hopeless, the down trodden those without any hope apart from a freakin MIRACLE! "Does, GOD look down on the Boys in the Barroom?" HE LOOKED UPON ME! Love the jam out of Wharf Rat you can hear the drummers increasing the tempo but also sounds like Keith in the mix. Great to hear the drummers go for it. This is actually a pretty extended drum solo for what they have attempted so far in 76. and this is straight drums without any gizmo's gadgets and yeah, i am just waiting for that WHEEL. This is actually a perfect seg-way because they use the drums in 76 to bring on the Wheel. In the 80's and 90s they tended to use Space to get to the WHEEL. Nothing like a pure drum solo. Did you catch that transition just a few seconds before the drums track ends? Wow, That is the way to hit the WHEEL. Sweet & Mellow but Full force, listen to those vocals. What does 1976 have? It has the WHEEL!!! "BIG WHEEL TURN BY THE GRACE OF GOD" Love Donna Jean singing with Garcia also notice Weir a big part vocally. (Oh, Garcia on guitar!) Around & Around very hot in 76, so hot they don't even pair it with any other rocker in the closer spot on most nights. Donna gives a yell like somebody just goosed her! Love the overdrive for the coda of Around.. double time,, Jerry doing his thing with Keith in hot pursuit. The Boogie Woogie.. Now the whole U.S. Blues encore. Me thinks this is Garcia's statement on the Bicentennial. Does it really matter that much? (But not worth cutting down a show for its encore.) Most nights in the 80s the encore seems to be just a THANK YOU for coming, --played our butts off --grab your gear -- the party is heading out into the parking lot. (Hey what did they call Shakedown Street in 76 before it was Shakedown St.?) Is Donna always out for the U.S. Blues encore? She certainly is tonight. They almost melt down the end of U.S. Blues!!! "Thank You all, Goodnight"-Weir -Oh yeah-Listen to the entire Soundcheck For me it was an after show nightcap the 'EYES' alone is completely mesmerizing.

I haven't listened to the whole thing but the seventh take of Stella Blue is really great... aside from my copy has a pause in the tape towards the beginning.
