Dust Off Those Rusty Strings Just One More Time!
This is a high quality recording from another solid June '85 recording.
Set 1 starts with an extremely energetic Bucket with blazing leads by Garcia. Nice start! The Sugaree that follows is excellent with slightly touchy vocals that are delivered passionately. Walkin Blues is a bit off and the jam is just average. Candyman is nice and sweet and Jerry's craggy vocals fit the feel of the tune perfectly. The following three songs are average renditions but Cassidy, although brief, is very well played with some great leads by Jerry and group interplay during the second jam. This is one of the highlights of the show. Jerry must have been in a mellow mood because all of his songs are ballads including a subpar Brown Eyed Women. Saturday Night closes the set but is a bit off and they don't really find the rhythm until the final jam which has an energetic finish.
Set 2 starts with Keep On Growing which is always fun. This one isn't played very well but it sounds like a good time. It kind of plods along and Brent dominates Phil vocally. The jam is a sloppy mess but the second section of vocals is better with lots of enthusiasm. An average version of Half Step follows with subtle vocal flubs. Things finally start to pick up with an amazing version of Lost Sailor>Saint of Circumstance. Bobby belts out the lyrics with passion and enthusiasm and there is a nice jam at the end of Lost Sailor before the transition. The transition is perfect and the jam and the end of Saint of Circumstance is excellent, reaching some lofty heights. The Drums that follows is very interesting with a lot f psychedelic, tribal rhythms and Space segues into an Odd Mr. Fantasy in which Garcia dominates musically and vocally. A brief yet rousing Miracle segues into an absolutely beautiful rendition of Stella Blue. This show must be listened to just just for this version. Jerry's vocals are beautiful and it is played perfectly throughout with him belting out the classic lines. There's also some trippy delay on has vocals in the first verse that add o the atmosphere. Perfection! Throwing Stones>NFA ends the show and pretty Brokedown sends the crowd home. 3.5 stars

The night I "got it"
A wonderful second set, which features one of the best Lost Sailor > Saints of later years. Summer 1985 was pure magic, and this one ranks just as high as the much-touted Hershey Park and the Merriweather shows later in this tour.
The only problem I have with the soundboard recording is that Jerry is too low in the mix. I much prefer the audience recordings of this night, with Jerry up high and Phil booming out great thunderous notes. This show would be an excellent candidate for a Matrix with one of the F.O.B. audience recordings.
It's a smoker, for sure!

no brokedown rhythmn
I am really impressed with this show. Drums was a drizzle of honey on my tongue, and cool water to fill the basin before fantasy comes and brings you to your knees. Brent has road chops and is totally outshining Bobby at this show. Hard when two hound dogs both want to be forlorn! At times its like the devils and Brent are the only ones playing. This is not an era yo will hear talked about anywhere these days. It doesn't exist no maw. Trulley good show though, and I have been rockin all day. Lost sailor is one of those songs I had a kick for a good stretch until I just couldn't stand the overdone lyrics anymore. After getting soaked in the rain wilting, chattering and shivering with mush grock stuck in my teeth last time, I can't take the parody of it all with such a gimmik tune. The drums was a bit on the rare side, I mean damn near calming. Makes me wonder about the hours of can banging/chicken marching music I put up with some times. Do love those Growers... like a wave standing up that shit was frozen... :?:?:?:?:?:?: Golden
