You People Will Cheer For Anything
That’s what Phil says before Box (you can hear it at the very end of the US Blues clip), but I thought at the time he was referring to more than clearing his throat, but rather to the second set in general. I was there, fully “prepped”, and the first set was nice, but the second set not so much. Seemed to me at the time that Jerry must have indulged a bit too much between sets. Starting with Fire was a tell-tail sign, an easy two chord pattern, but Jerry’s playing was dreadful on that and Samson. Then a ragged Ship and Women. I distinctly remember at the time just shaking my head and thinking something was really off - and I’d thankfully been to many shows before fully “prepped” to know what “on” sounded like. Things improve a bit after drums/space but problems persist - Jerry can’t play the signature Lovelight licks before Bob’s summertime rap - maybe that’s what set Bob off. 18 days later Jerry lapsed into his coma, something was definitely not right. Thankfully he recovered and came out clean and blazing in 1987. But I never forgot this experience, and ReListening 34! years later brings it all back in sharp relief.

6/22/86 SPACE > Truckin!
Hey I just wanted to say this is a unique version of SPACE. It's so dam psychedelic, I ended up playing it all this morning - the SPACE over and over - has that sick 1986 feel to it. Must hear Drumz > Space > Truckin > GDTRFB..... and YES, a great version of Lovelight mentioned here numerous times.

Sweet Sweet Summertime
How is it that noone mentions the Lovelight. One of the sickest Bobby freak-outs ever. Killer delays from Healy on the "Sweet Sweet Summertime" Lovelight.

Love this Show
I origanly had an audience tape of this show that had a strange echo in it. The echo combined with the way the band played made for an interesting tape that I almost wore out.
This is one of my all time favorite Row Jimmy's. I love the almost ragtime staccato and Brents vocals in the background make it even better. Its nice, slow and patient, like a lazy sunday afternoon.

Box of Rain.....finally
This show was definitely a unique one that the band seemed to enjoy themselves at and was fun all the way around. Highlights were the long 1st set and the 2nd set opener of "Fire On the Mountain"....Also, being the first day of summer, we got some Bob Weir improvsing of "Sweet, sweet Summertime....All, all the time" in Lovelight. For west coasters, we had only received one version of "Box of Rain" since the boys brought it back and that was at the BCT in April....After not playing it at the Frost, the crowd was chanting "We want Phil" the whole weekend...and that didn't mean "Gimme Some Lovin'" or "Tons of Steel".....we wanted "Box of Rain". Well, when the boys came out with "U.S. Blues", everybody did a double take and then when the shock wore off, danced our hearts out......the boys leave, the crew's out taking down mikes and the show's over. It's 7:07pm and my flight leaves S.F. airport at 8:10pm.....gotta go now!!! But wait!!!! the crowd begins chanting "Ya know our love will Not Fade Away, clap-clap-clap-clap"......the crew begins to turn around...what's this? They're setting the mikes back up...what the fu.....what the hell do I do? I wasn't going to miss this so I stayed. Sure enough, the boys return and when Phil clears his throat into the mike, we knew we were getting what we came for..."Box of Rain" FINALLY!!!! Upon completion of the song, I look at my watch...7:22pm....Goddamn, let's go!!!! After my ride drove 85mph across the Bay Bridge, and a bitchout by the airport staff, the captain comes up and says load em all on. I was on a flight still high as a kite, heading home before I knew what happened.......only at a Grateful Dead show!!!!!!

Nice....
Great Sunday afternoon show after a crazy Friday night and good Saturday.
Stand-alone Fire opener 2nd set was a standout for me as well. Nice and mellow, and a good way to open the closing 2nd set of a great weekend. And a double encore to close it all out.

All are fixable. I used Soundforge
V6.0 and it cleaned up perfectly.
Show hightlights for me would be the Fire On The Mountain... Second Set opener... very nice and slow. Weir belts out a back up vocal off cue (pretty funny)But jerry's vocals are perfect, that along with Jerry's solo at the end of the song I get covered in Jerry Chills (goose bumps).
Box Of Rain, Phil forgets the words and sings just that... He improved nicely and it's funny.
Great sounding recording.
