Was there.
I scalped tix as a kid.
Always ssaved a couplee for mee.
Year my mothher died.
Scalping kept me from. Starving in the streets.
Still, the best ... of times in a waay.
I'd go back in a NY MINUTE if I could.

It's such a nice, clear, crisp sounding recording that it makes the show itself that much more enjoyable.

This was a cool show to attend. I lucked out on these tickets having walked by the Radio City box office a few weeks earlier, despite the word they were
...
sold out, tickets were available. The first set was truly a treat as the band seemed in fine form and very comfortable playing to the room. What a treat walking the red carpeted halls, ordering cocktails, vs the usual east coast caverns. And then the giant, shopping bag sized spleef winding its way through the aisles made it's way to me and my lungs will never be the same. The first electric set felt tame to start. A high point for me was the Peggy-O/Row Jimmy phase. By then I had worked my way down center aisle left to be in the zone and by god the sound was impeccable and the band sounded tight. Second set, while played well, was missing the open spaces and exploration I preferred from a second set, but I dug the rock and roll, and the house was shaking as the set rolled to a close, This tape captures the show extremely well and I give it the HumboldtLightning seal of approval. 3 stars for the electric plus 1 bonus for the acoustic treat.

Monkey & the Engineer is from the Reckoning album, probally why there is no SBD circulating on the Archive for this show. Great recording, though I
...
am having some problem picking out any bass on the Acoustic set. Four stars for a very historic set of Acoustic shows, which thankfully for these Senns, we can enjoy.
A real treat to hear songs like Birdsong and To Lay Me Down redefined...

My friend in the 80's used to record with these mic's and I love em. The 441's make fantastic recordings that can really capture the music as it sounded
...
in the room and this recording is a fine example. Great range from lowend to highend - the taper pushed the head room perhaps too far but riding that edge can harvest fine results without alot of hiss, found here. The 441's have only one drawback their scope is pretty wide which picks up audience noise easily. So the acoustic set has alot of crowd distractions. (it is hard to find any audience rec. of these 80's acoustic sets that don't and this is significantly one of the better ones). Where this performance and this recording really begin to shine is in the electric portion of the show esp. the second set. The Truckin' kicks the set off nicely and pumps in some great energy into this fantastic Scarlet>Fire. For me, the jewel of the night comes with the Space>Warf Rat. A powerfully played WF great vocals by all, esp. Jerry. Versions like this is where I really miss ya Jer.
4.5 stars for the almost perfect recording.

almost 25 years ago - hard to believe! Well the show was really really good and they had this huge spiral staircase everyone was sprawled all over in between sets - Up till then the wildest thing management had seen there were the Rockettes and in come 3000+ acid fueled wackos (present company included)interacting with all the suits - It was like two huge rivers coming together. The whole show was good and the Minglewood does kick ass, Scarlet>Fire the whole set II is great. In the background they showed a cool slide show throughout the show each night was different.

The sound of this show is bright and up front, and the crowd noise is just about right. Stellar versions of Heaven Help the Fool and Birdsong acoustic.

The best Minglewood I'd ever heard and a great Wharf Rat. Radio City was a great venue and the scene here was just incredible. Thanks for posting it!
